Maternity leave was the best, Buck decided as he waddled his way through the LA dispatch centre, being eight months pregnant, on the other hand? The worst.
Buck felt like he hasn’t slept in days, his back felt like it was on fire and he’s pretty sure at this point the pup has bruised his kidneys, to say he’s uncomfortable would be an understatement.
he knew what he needed his husband to help him sleep, he was on a mission, a mission of great importance.
He shot Josh a tight smile and nodded his head “hey Josh. Is he in his office?” he asked, he didn’t need to clarify on who, everyone knew who he was coming to see.
“Should be!” he replied, sending Buck a smile in return. “Don’t distract him too much, he’s supposed to be working” he snorted, knowing for a fact the alpha wouldn’t get anything done once he saw his pregnant mate was here.
“Josh” Buck groaned, walking away from the beta “don’t let Maddie hear you talk about her little brother like that” he called out behind him, rounding the corner before Josh could reply. He didn’t need that kind of teasing today, he knew what they all thought of him, like he was some sex crazed omega needing his alpha’s knot 24/7. But that was further from the truth.
He waddled down the long hallway with a grimace on his face, his back was killing him from all this walking, but he was close to his destination, and he knew he would feel a hundred times better when he was finally in his alpha’s arms.

“Hey, omega” Eddie smiled once he noticed Buck standing at the door “How’re you feeling, Carino? The pup okay?” he asked, a soft frown worrying his face. Buck smiled and shut the door behind him “Yeah, yeah we’re both good Alpha, pup’s doing good” he spoke softly, motioning for Eddie to move his chair back.
Eddie chuckled and pushed his chair away from his desk, opening his arms to allow his omega sit on his lap. “I’m glad, baby” he whispered and kissed his omega’s hair, moving Buck’s long legs to the side of his hip, laying his head in the crook of his neck.
“You comfy honey?” he said softly, whispering a soft ‘good’ once Buck confirmed, he pulled his chair as close to the desk as he could, a soft rumble building in his chest.
“Eddie?” Buck mumbled, his voice thick with sleep. his nose pressed against his husband's neck, the scent of happy, content alpha drawing him closer to sleep than he has been in days. “Yeah baby?” he whispered, running his fingers through Bucks hair, drawing soft purrs from the omega.
“Gonna sleep now” he mumbled, his words incoherent. Eddie smiled and kissed his birthmark. “Go to sleep sweetheart, I'll be here when you wake up” he whispered, digging his fingers into Buck’s soft curls, the purrs gradually getting louder.
“Mhm...” Buck mumbled, before finally falling asleep.

Eddie smiled brightly as he felt his omega fully relax on him, it didn’t matter how many times Buck curled up on his to fall asleep, the Alpha always felt privileged, Buck didn’t allow himself to ‘Act Omega’ very often because of his horrible parents, but when he did, it always made Eddie feel ecstatic, like when a cat chooses you to sleep on. It's a special moment for everyone involved.
Eddie reached into his desk drawer and pulled out the soft fluffy blanket he kept specially for moments like these and wrapped it over the sleeping omega in his lap.
Eddie leaned back in the chair and continued to run his fingers through Buck’s hair, pressing a soft kiss against his birthmark, it was his favourite place to kiss, it always made his omega blush deep read, so of course he had to continue kissing that spot, even in his sleep.
He rested his free hand on the swell of his mate’s stomach and softly stroked his thumb across the bump. “Hey pup” he whispered, to not disturb Buck from his sleep. “You giving your mama a rough time again?”
He chuckled as he felt the pup’s little foot press against his thumb. “I'll take that as a yes” he spoke softly, continuing to stroke his thumb across Buck’s stomach.
“God, you’re already so loved and you’re not even here yet” he whispered. “i can’t wait to meet you, pup, you’re going to be spoiled rotten by me and your mama, as well as your aunties and uncles” he continued “everyone’s so excited to meet you sweetheart”
Eddie smiled as he felt his pup’s foot press against his thumb again. “Alright pup, behave, your mama’s trying to sleep” he moved his hand away from his wife’s stomach, he knew if he didn’t the pup could continue to kick him, and he didn’t want his omega to wake up until he was ready.
“Eddie?” Sue spoke as she knocked softly on the door, a smile on her face when she saw he had his hands full with his sleeping omega. “Hey, new traffic update?” he asked, his hand still buried deep in Buck’s hair.
“Yep” she walked into the little office as quietly as she could, handing Eddie the information she wrote down “There was an accident in the tunnel leading to malibu and oxnard, the one below ocean avenue, these are the redirects, if you could post these as soon as you could, that would be perfect, thank you.”
Eddie nodded his head and took the piece of paper, pulling himself as close to his desk as he could. “You got it, Sue” he replied, immediately opening the LA dispatch official twitter account to share the information.
“So, how’s he been?” she spoke softly, nodding her head at Buck. “He’s been great, more uncomfortable than not most days now, which means he hasn’t been sleeping as much as he should, but he always manages to sleep if I'm there, i think my scent helps him and the pup calm down”
“Well, you are mates, of course your scent helps with him and the pup” she laughed, opening the door to leave. “I’ll leave you to it Eddie, try not to fall asleep with him, would you?”
Eddie laughed softly and shook his head “you know i won’t Sue, i can’t sleep sitting up anymore, I'm not as young as i used to be”
“Ah, well you say that now...” she trailed off, laughing as she shut the door to his office, leaving him and Buck alone once more.
Eddie huffed and shook his head, pressing a kiss to his wife’s head before hitting send on the tweet.

“Hey, pup, calm down, let your mama sleep” Eddie whispered as he ran his hand across Buck’s pregnant belly, the pup was getting restless, and he knew if the little one kept wriggling, Buck would wake up. And his wife hasn’t slept nearly enough for that yet.
Eddie shook his head with a soft laugh as he watched his pup’s little foot press against Buck’s skin “come on kiddo, let your mama sleep” he whispered, softly stroking the omega’s skin.
Eddie yawned and shook his head, blinking rapidly to starve off the tiredness, he wasn’t tired, he wasn’t it was just because his wife was snuffling in his sleep, and that always made Eddie tired, no matter where he was.
“Good pup” he mumbled when he noticed the foetus once again calmed down, hopefully the pup would go back to sleep and let his mama get a couple of hours before he woke up.
“Christopher is so excited to be a big brother” he spoke softly, his hand cradling the bump. “You’re going to be so loved little one, you’re Grandpa Bobby and Nana Athena are going to spoil you rotten, you’ll never want for nothing, you’ll always be loved and protected, and you’ll always be able to make your own choices, i already love you more than you can imagine, and so does your mama” he continued.
Eddie rested his head on Buck’s and closed his eyes, finally allowing sleep to drag him under too.

When Sue returned half an hour later, a smile spread across her face.
In Eddie’s office, Buck was still asleep, curled tightly around his Alpha, his face slack with sleep, the omega was purring away, content and happy in his husband’s lap.
Eddie’s arms were wrapped tightly around his wife, his nose buried into his curls, his eyes closed in his sleep, both of his hands were resting on his wife’s bump, protecting it even in his sleep. They looked adorable curled up together.
Sue chuckled softly “i can’t sleep sitting up my ass” she whispered, softly shutting the door behind her, leaving the little family to catch up on the much-needed sleep.
She didn’t mind taking over the twitter account again.
