The Demon Wolf's Heir

Life in the Blackwood Pack

Deucalion couldn’t believe his eyes as he looked at the most perfect tiny human in existence. The biggest amber eyes stared up at him unblinkingly and then small hands reached out for him. A bright smile spread over Deucalion’s lips as he met the boy half-way.

“Hello, young one,” Deucalion whispered gently. “I’m your uncle Deucalion. And you are…?”

He raised his eyes to look at the proud mother holding the baby. Claudia’s eyes – the same amber as the baby’s – sparkled with mischief while Claudia’s husband on the other side of the hospital bed heaved an exasperated sigh. Deucalion cocked an eyebrow and looked at Noah.

“She strong-armed me,” Noah complained. “Used the big doe-eyes and the quivering lower-lip and the whole… growing a human inside her… as arguments. I stood no chance.”

Deucalion pursed his lips at that and turned back to Claudia. “We named him after my father.”

Ah, that explained the constipated look on Noah’s face. Chuckling, Deucalion returned his attention to the baby, gently tracing a chubby little cheek with a finger. The boy made a soft babbling noise.

“Welcome to the family, little Mieczysław,” Deucalion poked the boy’s nose playfully.

“Listen,” Noah sighed and his voice was more serious than before. “We also had a… question.”

“We’re both leading dangerous lives,” Claudia took over for her husband, cradling her son closer to her chest. “I’m the Spark of Beacon County and Noah is a deputy with the sheriff’s station. We just… We want to be sure that little Mietek will be taken care of if anything happens to us. Will you be his godfather, Deucalion? I know that if something happens to us, he will be safe with you.”

Deucalion straightened up at that, his eyebrows raised. “I’ll be… I’ll be honored.”

Claudia smiled pleased at his answer and held the baby up like an offering. Deucalion was careful as he accepted his godson, holding him gentle and safe. In the back of his head, he hoped that nothing would happen to his friends and that the only role in Mietek’s life that Deucalion would take was that of the favorite uncle who’d spoil the boy rotten and protect the boy at all cost.

Deucalion wrapped a secure arm around Stiles’ narrow shoulders, the little boy huddling closer at that and nuzzling into Deucalion’s thigh. It was a warm and sunny day. The kind of days Claudia had always loved and Deucalion liked to think that she was responsible for the weather, to welcome her husband back into her arms. Deucalion just wished she would have waited longer for that reunion. Marin, his Emissary, stepped up to his other side, giving his arm a gentle squeeze.

“The deputies from the station have organized a barbecue to honor their sheriff,” Marin whispered.

“That sounds very nice,” Deucalion forced a smile and then knelt down to be on eye-level with Stiles. “What do you say? Are you hungry? Are we going to a barbecue together?”

“I’m not hungry,” Stiles argued softly, staring past Deucalion at the headstone.

Deucalion sighed sadly and turned to look into the same direction. Not even a year ago, they had buried Claudia here. After a horrible year of sickness and hospital stays. And now Noah had joined his wife in this last resting place. A call had gone wrong, a robbery. The sheriff had been there for damage control. A stray bullet and nothing anyone could do. Well, if Deucalion had been there, he might have been able to give Noah the bite. It hadn’t been an option for Claudia, a Spark couldn’t be turned, so they were forced to sit aside and watch her slowly fade away and suffer.

The bite would have been an option for Noah, but Deucalion didn’t live in Beacon Hills. When they’d called him, by the time he made it to Beacon Hills Memorial, Noah had already passed. All that was left for Deucalion was to pick up the pieces of a small, scared and confused boy. Deucalion still remembered holding Stiles for the first time in this hospital and promising himself he would protect him. Though there hadn’t been anything that Deucalion could have done to save either Claudia or Noah, it still felt as though he had failed Stiles by not saving the boy’s parents.

“What’s… What’s gonna happen to me now, uncle Deuc?” Stiles asked in a small voice.

With a heavy sigh did Deucalion grab Stiles by the waist and lift him up. Stiles wrapped his arms around the Alpha’s neck and hugged him close while Deucalion adjusted his grip to hold the child safe and close. Stiles smelled of tears, grief and fear, and he looked just as afraid as he smelt.

“You’re going to come and live with me, in Silver Lake,” Deucalion replied. “You… Your parents wanted me to take care of you, if something happens to them. You’ll stay with me, is that okay?”

“Okay,” Stiles mumbled, his fingers curling into Deucalion’s shirt. “Thank you, uncle Deuc.”

It broke Deucalion’s heart to see Stiles this subdued. That boy was bright and loud, filled with too much energy to be contained. It would take time, but Deucalion hoped Stiles would heal. Deucalion looked to his Emissary, who was also a licensed therapist and would hopefully be able to help both of them heal, together, because Deucalion still suffered the loss of Claudia too.

Talia’s summon to the Alpha summit had Deucalion worried and reluctant at first. He was taking care of a small child now, one who was still not entirely settled in. Stiles sneaked into Deucalion’s bed near every night with nightmares, he didn’t talk much and made himself small. He clung to Deucalion every chance he had, like he was afraid that the wolf would also be taken away from him. An understandable fear, considering the devastating losses he had suffered in the span of less than a year now. Still, Deucalion knew this meeting was important. Connecting with the other Alphas in the greater Beacon County territory was important. And he wanted change, wanted peace. For that, he needed to network. This could be his chance to make Gerard Argent see eye to eye.

“All of them are wolves?” Stiles asked in what was supposed to be a whisper.

His eyes were large as he looked over all gathered packs. The Hale Pack, the Ito Pack, the Kreul Pack, the Dunham Pack and of course Deucalion’s own pack. Deucalion smiled down at the boy and rested a hand on his shoulder. Maybe it wasn’t so bad to be here after all, perhaps this summit meeting could help coax Stiles out of his shell. Deucalion missed the bright, happy child.

“Yes, pup. And all of these are Alphas, just like me,” Deucalion pointed at the other pack Alphas present. “And they are my friends. That’s why we’re here, so I can meet with them.”

Stiles nodded eagerly, but his eyes had already moved on. He was trying to take it all in. Deucalion smiled, pleased by the boy’s excitement. This trip really might do him some good.

“I’m very glad you decided to come, Deuc,” Talia smiled at him as she rested a hand on his upper arm. “Come, let me show you the vacation house we rented for your pack.”

Her eyes landed on Stiles for a brief moment and she tilted her head. Stiles tilted his right back.

“You’re really pretty,” Stiles pointed out. “You’re one of uncle Deuc’s friends, right?”

“Yes,” Talia smiled amused. “I’m Talia. You must be Stiles. It’s nice to finally meet you.”

Deucalion rested a hand on Stiles’ shoulder to make sure the boy didn’t run away from him as the whole pack followed Talia out of the first meet and greet so they could get settled in. There was a long list of things to go through for the Alphas this time around. Claudia’s death a year ago had shaken their community. Beacon County was going to be without an active Spark until Stiles really came into his magic and that could still be ten years away, depending on Stiles’ real potential.

Ennis Dunham did not have a mate or pups. He had his hands full with his pack, plus, kids just really weren’t his thing. They were loud, uncoordinated and they needed a lot of attention.

“Would you mind watching Stiles while I am meeting with Gerard, old friend?”

Even as Deucalion spoke, he already handed the child over to Ennis. Ennis stared wide-eyed as he held the child like something breakable and dangerous at the same time. Huge brown eyes stared at him with furrowed brows. Ennis held the boy at about an arm’s length away from him.

“Deuc, no,” Ennis protested. “I can’t watch the child! I am not qualified for this.”

Kali snickered and threw him a wicked smirk. Ennis glared at her for it before he was distracted by the squirming child in his arms. Did the boy need to go to the toilet? How long was the diaper-phase in human children? Surely this one was big enough that Ennis didn’t have to worry about that, right? Did he have to think about feeding the child? What did they eat-?

“Put the kid down, En,” Kali called out with an exasperated sigh. “He doesn’t like being dangled in the air like a naughty cat. He can stand on his own, you know.”

Ennis quickly put the child down and the brat dared to huff. “You’re really bad at this.”

“Thanks, kid,” Ennis glared at the unapologetic boy.

“Stiles,” the boy pointed at himself and spoke very slowly. “My name is Stiles. Not ‘kid’.”

Kali cackled as Ennis got sassed by a child. She then kicked the chair next to her out for him while Ennis looked around for Deucalion, who must have slipped out while Ennis was distracted with the kid. Oh, Ennis knew exactly why he got settled with the babysitting. The hunters had killed one of his own and he wanted revenge. Deucalion, the damn pacifist? He wanted to talk to Gerard, to come to an agreement with the hunters. How could Ennis possibly agree with them on anything after they had killed his Beta? He wanted an eye for an eye. Deucalion claimed that that way, both parties ended up blind and nothing was solved. The kid served to keep Ennis from the meeting.

“You wanna play a game, Stiles?” Kali suggested. “Have you ever played poker before?”

Stiles climbed onto the chair and looked at her curiously. “No. But I learn fast.”

Smirking at that, Kali started shuffling her cards. With a heavy sigh did Ennis join them. If he had to babysit the child, he could at least have some fun with one of his favorite people. He hated that he only got to see Kali so rarely. She was wicked, fast, strong and gorgeous too. An Alpha in her own right, of course. Otherwise, he might have already reconsidered his no mate rule. But things were a little messier when it came to relationships between two Alphas.

“You are a quick study,” Kali noted pleased about half an hour later.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure he already learned how to cheat,” Ennis narrowed his eyes at Stiles.

Stiles just offered a broad, toothy grin, feigning innocence. “I would never cheat.”

That little shit was completely full of it. Ennis huffed amused and put his cards down. Shooting Ennis a small smirk, Kali got up and walked over to the kitchen.

“I’m making us a snack. You must be hungry, Stiles,” Kali called out. “Sandwiches?”

“Yeah!” Stiles called back excitedly, waving at her. “Bacon, please!”

He was kicking his feet. The longer Kali took in the kitchen, the more the boy squirmed. The carefree look on his face changed slowly. All too soon, he was frowning and smelling anxious.

“Can we go see uncle Deuc?” Stiles asked worried.

“No, kid,” Ennis sighed. “Deuc’s in a very important meeting.”

“I don’t care. I need to see him,” Stiles hopped off his chair. “I need to see uncle Deuc.”

“That’s not possible right now,” Ennis said with emphasis.

The kid didn’t care for Ennis’ emphasis. Or for the meeting. Why did Marin have to go off to some Emissary meeting? She should be here, watching the brat. She was Deuc’s Emissary, after all. The kid had the gall to head toward the door. Glowering, Ennis grabbed the boy by the back of his shirt and lifted him up like a disobedient pet. Stiles started yelling and kicking.

“Kali!” Ennis called out a little desperately. “What do I do? I think he broke?”

He had to put the kid down so he could cover his ears, because that sharp yelling was hard on his sensitive werewolf-hearing. Kali returned from the kitchen with an annoyed glare on her face.

“Just go and take him to Deuc,” Kali sighed. “I overheard that he’s staying with Deuc because his parents died. I think he might have some separation anxiety. Go and show him that Deuc’s fine.”

Ennis gave a defeated sigh and grabbed the boy, who finally stopped wailing. Fine, Ennis knew where Deuc’s pack were meeting with Argent. He’d show Stiles that Deuc was fine and then he’d return to hopefully still get a sandwich or two from Kali. She didn’t cook often – if making a sandwich could even qualify for cooking – so he didn’t want to miss it.

When they reached the warehouse, Ennis was overcome with the horrifying realization that he was going to miss the sandwiches. Deucalion was crawling out of the warehouse, on the floor, looking like he was in pain. He was coughing hard. Gerard Argent walked out of the warehouse behind Deucalion, wearing a gas-mask. Instincts kicked in and Ennis quickly put the kid down.

“Stay here, don’t move,” Ennis growled as the Beta-shift took over and he lunged for Gerard.

The hunter was in the middle of pulling out two arrows as Ennis sank his claws into the man. Gerard groaned and twisted, sinking one of the arrows into Ennis’ shoulder. He groaned at it.

“Back-up, mh?” Gerard sneered. “It’s not going to save you.”

With his free hand, Gerard grabbed a dagger and drove it into Ennis’ thigh. He could feel the poison spreading instantly. Wolfsbane. Ennis groaned and grabbed his thigh with one hand. While Ennis was distracted with his own pain, Gerard turned his attention back to Deucalion.

“This ends here, Visionary,” Gerard raised the one arrow he had in his hand.

“No! Leave uncle Deuc alone!” Stiles yelled, throwing himself at Gerard.

The hunter, blinded by his blood-lust, grabbed the boy by the throat to get rid of him. Stiles gasped and struggled weakly. So did Ennis and Deuc, both trying to get up, trying to help Stiles.

“What’s this? A mutt of yours?” Gerard asked disgusted. “A monster in the making?”

“Father. Put… Put the child down, please. I don’t know what is going on here, but that’s a kid.”

Ennis turned to watch Chris Argent approach them with a horrified look on his face. The man had tried to smooth things over with Ennis. He hadn’t bought it. Maybe he had come here to do the same. To smooth things over between Gerard and Deucalion and avoid a confrontation.

“It’s a wolf,” Gerard spat. “What’s the difference if we put it down now, or in ten years?”

Chris took a startled step back, eyes wide. “The boy isn’t older than Allison. He’s a child.”

“The boy is part of a werewolf pack,” Gerard growled. “He deserves to die like the mutts.”

Before Gerard could hurt Stiles, Chris lunged forward. It happened so fast, Ennis didn’t know how exactly, but when Chris rolled off his father, he had a dagger sticking out of his gut, matching the one in Ennis’ thigh. Ennis had pulled it out by now and, as the Argents had rolled closer to him, Ennis didn’t miss his opportunity. He used Gerard’s dagger to cut the man’s throat before the hunter could act. He stared at Ennis with wide eyes. Seeing the life drain out of them was satisfying in a way, but it didn’t do anything more. His pack-mate was still dead. There was just yet another body.

“Uncle Deuc,” Stiles’ loud sobbing interrupted Ennis’ thoughts.

“I’m fine. I’m fine, pup,” Deucalion promised, sitting up carefully. “I’m unharmed.”

He was cradling Stiles close as he crawled up to Chris and Ennis. Ennis winced, the wolfsbane still spreading through his system. But he was still better off than the other Argent. Chris was bleeding a lot and fast. Humans couldn’t heal like wolves. He wasn’t going to make it to the hospital.

“You saved my pup,” Deucalion looked at Chris with kind eyes. “I can save you, in return. But you will have to make the decision now. Do you want the bite, Christopher?”

Chris started wide-eyed at the wolves and the child. “I can’t-”

“You can’t die here,” Ennis growled with hard eyes. “You just said you got a kid of your own. What, you want to leave her rather than take your chance as a wolf?”

Doubt and pain flickered through Chris eyes and then he looked at Stiles, crying and clinging onto Deucalion. He must have imagined his own kid with that same expression, because the next thing he did was nod his agreement. Ennis pulled Stiles away from Deuc and turned him so the kid didn’t have to see the way Deuc’s fangs sank into Chris.

“It’s gonna be okay, pup,” Ennis murmured softly, smoothing down Stiles’ hair.

Ennis knew one thing though. He wasn’t going to dismiss that kid’s instincts ever again. He could easily imagine what would have happened if Ennis and Stiles hadn’t come here.

This wasn’t where Chris had ever seen himself. He’d always known, deep down, that his father was bending their code to suit his needs at time, but when Chris saw his father dangling a little child by the throat, ready to hurt him – a boy no older than Allison – Chris had to act. He could no longer ignore what his father was doing, not when it was happening right in front of his eyes.

He’d only followed Ennis Dunham to protect his father, ironically enough. When he saw the huge Alpha head toward where Chris knew his father was meeting with Deucalion, he had been concerned, because Ennis had expressed a desire for revenge before. Chris thought he would have to save his father from an ambush. Instead, he had ended up helping in his father’s death and losing his own humanity in the process. The feeling of the dagger burrowing into his gut and the pure hatred on his father’s face as he did so, Chris was never going to forget that.

When Deucalion Blackwood offered him the bite, Chris had to accept. He couldn’t leave Allison. She was so young, she was only ten years old. He remembered being that age when his mother had died and his life took a turn for the worse. He couldn’t do hat to Allison. And a part of him was afraid that Allison’s life too would take a turn for the worse, because Chris knew Victoria had always been closely aligned with Gerard, much more accepting of the way he bent the code. Chris knew he was at fault too, for turning a blind eye, but she… If both Gerard and Chris died, Victoria and Kate were going to start an all-out war against the Dunham and Blackwood Pack.

Chris accepted the bite and was brought back to the temporary home of the Blackwood Pack. Over half the pack had died in the attack from Gerard, barely any could be saved. Kali Kreul burned the wolfsbane out of Ennis, while Chris was laid out next to them, transforming.

A lot happened while Chris was out of it, between the Alphas talking. By the time he came to it again, things between the Argents and the Alphas were heating up. When Chris got involved, Victoria demanded for him to uphold family law. To take his own life. How could he. Especially now that he actually was a wolf – that he knew, first hand, that he was still himself.

The horror stories from his father, that werewolves were rabid beasts possessing a human shell weren’t true. Were rooted in bigotry and the need to justify hunting and killing them. But Chris was still himself, he loved Allison all the same. Yes, his senses were sharper and he did feel more… impulsive. The wolf was itching under his skin to be let out, but Chris was still in charge.

Things tipped over into a fight, between the wolves and the hunters that were left, led by Victoria. Chris cried as he held his wife when she died. Regardless of how this had come to be, she was still the mother of his daughter and he wished it could have gone differently.

Needless to say, this Alpha summit had not gone the way it was supposed to. The packs parted and retreated back to their own territories, to bury their dead and heal their wounds. Chris went to pick up Allison from the motel where the Argents had been staying. He had to explain to her that her mother was dead and… that werewolves were real and her father was one now.

They left together with the Blackwood Pack, because Chris was now part of that pack. And he didn’t quite have a home anyway. The Argents were always on the move, depending on their mission, and they’d been between missions when this Alpha summit was called. Gerard had ordered Chris and Victoria to come join him, to stand in a united front. The plan had been to move toward Seattle after this, their belongings currently in storage until they found a place in Seattle. Chris now arranged for their things to be delivered to Silver Lake.

“C’mon, I’ll show you around,” Stiles offered, grabbing Allison’s hand.

She looked around shyly, turning toward her father to ask permission. He gave her a sad but encouraging smile and then the two children were running off together. Victoria’s death hadn’t fully sunken in for Allison yet and the girl was clearly overwhelmed by everything that had been revealed to her in the past couple hours. As soon as she was out of sight, Chris sagged a little.

“Easy,” Deucalion murmured gently, resting a firm hand between his shoulder-blades. “It’s okay.”

“How,” Chris croaked out, turning toward the man – his Alpha. “My father… My wife… I’m… My life is going to change forever. And how do I help Allison, she just lost…”

“She seems like a strong girl, she will heal,” Deucalion assured him. “Maybe, she can heal together with Stiles. He is still working through the loss of his parents.”

His parents? Both of them? Chris reached a hand up to rub his face. The Alpha’s hand on his back grounding him some. It soothed the wolf inside his chest.

“I’ll show you your room, Allison will get the room right next to you. Settle in, take a breath. One step at a time, Christopher,” Deucalion spoke gently. “It seems like a lot right now, because you are thinking of all of it together. We will deal with everything, one by one.”

Chris nodded jerkily. One thing at a time. Deucalion was an experienced Alpha, he would know how to help Chris adjust to his wolf and as a man taking care of a child who had been orphaned, Deucalion might even be able to help Chris with Allison. It felt strange, to be relying on a wolf – but then he was a wolf now. This was his pack. And, supposedly, pack meant family. He was about to find out just how true that really was.

/break\

Stiles had always felt like the odd one out with the Blackwood Pack, the only kid. The youngest members of the pack had been teenagers. It hadn’t helped him much in settling in. he felt lonely. And then Allison and Chris moved into the pack house and joined the pack. Not only was Allison just a few months older than Stiles, she was also human. He was no longer the only kid and no longer the only human in the pack. He like immediately decided that Allison should be his friend, especially when he learned that she had just lost her mom, because he knew that pain.

Things were really tense and quiet in the pack for months after that. So many had died. Stiles hadn’t really known them all that well. He mourned the loss of life, but he didn’t have these life long bonds that most others in the pack had with them. Their loss cut deeper than his. So while the pack mourned, Stiles focused on Allison and on helping her settle in and work through her grief.

“I like her hair,” Allison gasped softly, clutching her pillow closer.

Stiles snickered at that and then eyed Allison’s long hair. “We could try?”

Today’s choice of cheering Allison up was watching Star Wars with her. After they finished A New Hope, Stiles decided to try giving Allison a Leia hair-style. He had no idea how to braid hair. In the end, they had to give up and head to Chris, in the hopes of the man knowing how to do it. Allison had said that her dad often gave her a French braid.

“What, in the world, happened to your hair?” Chris asked startled.

“It looks like a bird attacked it and tried to make a nest,” Braeden next to him commented.

She snickered a little and flashed her eyes blue when Stiles stuck his tongue out at her. Braeden was kind of mean – not in a bad way, like Deucalion’s former Right Hand, who had split from the pack after Deuc took in two Argents, taking some of the other survivors with him.

“We were trying to give her Princess Leia hair,” Stiles huffed and crossed his arms.

“I will be crossing ‘hair dresser’ off your list of potential future careers, kid,” Braeden teased.

Stiles grumbled and bounced on the balls of his feet. From what Stiles had seen so far, Braeden and Chris seemed to be getting along really well. She was a bitten wolf too, and she used to do… bad stuff too. Stiles didn’t know exactly what, but he knew she preferred her guns to her claws, just like Chris. She was also Marin’s wife and since Stiles had really taken to Marin after moving here, he spent a lot of time with Braeden too. She always teased him, mostly because he seemed to be getting in the way of her ‘wife time’.

“C’mere, I’ll fix that,” Braeden sighed, waving Allison over.

“Thank you,” Chris shot her a look. “I’m not sure how to do that.”

Braeden offered a wry smile and took the brush from Stiles to start working on Allison’s hair. Stiles decided to sit down next to Chris and Braeden at the kitchen table too. Chris turned toward him with a smile and rested a hand on Stiles’ head to ruffle his hair. He liked Chris, not just because Chris had saved his life and given him Allison. The man was serious and stern but still very kind and a really loving father. He… He reminded Stiles a lot of his dad like that.

“Do you wanna play poker?” Stiles asked, looking up at Chris.

“...You know how to play poker?” Chris asked surprised.

“Kali taught me,” Stiles nodded and got a deck of cards out.

Kali had given them to him as a parting gift after the Alpha summit. Chris smiled and leaned back.

“Deal me in, kid,” Chris chuckled softly.

“I’ll be joining once I’m done with this,” Braeden declared. “Damn, you made a mess, Stiles.”

“I was try—ing my best,” Stiles whined a little, glaring at her.

/break\

“I can’t believe I let myself be roped into this,” Chris heaved a deep sigh.

Deucalion couldn’t help the smile as he looked at the former hunter. “It suits you.”

Chris shot him the nastiest glare. “I look like I decided to leave the house in a bathrobe.”

“It’s a Jedi robe!” Stiles yelped, glaring up at Chris. “You’re Obi-Wan Kenobi!”

“Yes, dad! You are our only hope!” Allison agreed.

And there was the reason Chris let himself roped into this. A twin-set of sad puppy-dog eyes. Deucalion smiled bemused as he saw Chris crumble in the face of the two kids. It was the first Halloween that both Stiles and Allison were part of the pack and the kids had decided on group costumes; Stiles as Luke Skywalker, Allison as Princess Leia, Chris as Obi-Wan Kenobi (‘You have the beard for it!’, according to Stiles) and Deucalion had, questionably enough, ended up as Darth Vader. It was either the black villain outfit, or the silly little vest of Han Solo. Quite frankly, Braeden looked much, much better in the Han Solo outfit anyway.

“I’m unsure how they got you into this though,” Chris pointed out, looking at Braeden.

Braeden grinned wickedly. “Since Marin is on a retreat with the Beacon County Emissaries, she asked me to go trick or treating with Stiles. Let’s just say there is a golden bikini with her name on it waiting for her in our bedroom.”

“I shouldn’t have asked,” Chris heaved a sigh.

Deucalion chuckled at that and reached for Stiles’ hand. Allison was walking next to Stiles and Chris was holding his daughter’s hand on the other side. The five of them walked through Silver Lake together, knocking on doors and asking for candy for the kids.

“Oh, what a lovely little family,” an elderly lady smiled at them.

“I’m the wine aunt,” Braeden declared dryly.

The elderly lady just nodded and then looked from Chris to Deuc and back. “A very handsome pair of fathers do you two have there. A lovely couple.”

Deucalion blinked surprised and he could hear the startled skip of Chris’ heartbeat, while Stiles and Allison were giggling at that and accepting the heaps of candy the elderly lady was giving them. Deucalion couldn’t deny that Chris Argent was a handsome man, but he hadn’t thought more on it. Yes, over the past three months, they had somewhat co-parented Stiles and Allison, but Christopher was a recent widower, surely he had no space for any such thing.

“You’re thinking really loudly, Alpha,” Braeden commented softly while the kids ran ahead. “You know that most of us in the pack have noticed the… let’s call it connection… between you. Just ask him out, before the UST becomes too much to bear.”

Deucalion shot her a glare and didn’t dignify that with an answer. His eyes went to Chris, watching with a gentle gaze how Chris tried to rein Stiles in when the boy tried to run too far ahead. Yes, Deuc might have a soft spot for the former hunter. Perhaps he should try his luck.

“You’ll heal,” Marin’s voice was gentle as she wiped the sweat off her own brows. “But you will never be the same again. You… You lost your Alpha sparks.”

Stiles’ eyes widened where he was sitting at the bottom of the stairs with Allison, peeking through the open door where Deuc, Braeden, Chris and Marin were taking care of Ennis and Kali. The couple had arrived an hour ago, heavily injured. Deuc had, of course, sent Stiles upstairs. Stiles had, of course, not listened. After all, he liked Ennis and Kali and wanted to know what happened. Last he’d heard from them was the wedding invitation – he had gotten really excited about it. He had never seen a werewolf wedding before, uncle Deuc said that they were quite special.

“Yeah,” Ennis’ voice was hollow as he spoke. “I don’t think we would have survived the attack if not for it. The Alpha sparks kept us alive long enough to heal us, but… it burned out.”

“What happened?” Deucalion asked in a tight voice. “Who did this to you?”

“Julia,” Kali admitted, broken and devastated.

Allison turned toward Stiles with a frown and Stiles leaned in to whisper into her ear. “That’s Kali’s Emissary, like what Marin is for uncle Deuc.”

Allison’s eyes widened in surprise at that. Stiles hadn’t really met Julia, he only heard from Marin about the other Emissaries in Beacon County. But why would an Emissary do that to their Alpha…?

“She lost her damn mind,” Ennis growled, pure anger in his voice. “She was screeching about how I stole Kali from her, how she wouldn’t stand for this and then she attacked our packs. She… It… It was a slaughter, she was so powerful, she must have stolen the Nemeton’s power…”

“I’m so sorry,” Marin grasped Kali’s hand, guilt and concern creasing her face. “I thought… I knew about her obsession with you, but I thought she got over it. She acted like she was genuinely happy for you when I last saw her over All Hallow’s Eve. If I had ever thought she would do something like this, I would have...”

“It’s not your fault, Mar,” Kali sighed, looking weak. “I just… my pack is gone, all of my bonds are gone. My spark is gone. I’m… weak. And alone.”

“You’re not,” Ennis declared, reaching out for Kali’s free hand. “You will always have me, Kal.”

“And us,” Deucalion offered gently. “You do not have to make a final decision right now, but know that the offer is on the table. We have been friends for years and I would be honored to call you pack. But even if you decide to start over somewhere else, you are more than welcome to stay here and heal for now. Whatever you need.”

“I need Julia’s head on a silver platter,” Ennis growled.

“Can’t offer a silver platter, but I do have… a silver hunter to offer,” Deucalion tilted his head.

He smiled teasingly at Chris, his fingers gently trailing down Chris’ arm. The former hunter’s eyes hardened as he nodded his confirmation. Stiles’ eyebrows rose high at that. He knew what Chris used to be before he got the bite. This sounded exciting, but also dangerous.

“I may no longer be a hunter but I’ll do what needs to be done, if you want me to,” Chris offered.

“Yes,” Kali hissed, her eyes flashing bright-blue.

Stiles’ eyes widened at that. She really wasn’t an Alpha anymore. She was a Beta. He hadn’t known that was possible, he thought Alphas were Alphas and Betas were Betas. When he turned toward Allison, she looked worried, her eyes on her dad. Right. She had already lost her mom and nearly had lost her dad – that was why Chris was a werewolf now, after all. Stiles reached out to take her hand and give it a reassuring squeeze.

“Your dad is awesome and a total badass, plus he has werewolf healing now,” Stiles whispered. “He will totally be fine! You don’t have to worry about him.”

“The brat’s right with that one,” Braeden said as she suddenly stepped up between them, resting a hand on either of their heads, ruffling. “I’ll go with him, be his backup.”

“You’ll watch out for dad?” Allison asked hopefully.

“He’s the only reasonable adult in this house, I’ll make sure he stays safe,” Braeden teased.

Stiles squirmed out from her hold and rushed inside, coming to stand at Ennis’ bedside. The man looked horrible, like he was wrung out or something. Still, Ennis forced a smile and gave Stiles a pat on the head. It was weak. He was weak. Stiles didn’t like that. A mountain of a man like that wasn’t allowed to seem that weak. Stiles couldn’t lose anyone else.

“Stop worrying, pup,” Ennis ordered. “I’m fine. Just need a good nap.”

Stiles nodded sharply. And then he climbed onto the bed and curled against Ennis’ side. The wolf chuckled weakly but pulled Stiles closer so they could nap together.

“I’ll watch over you while you nap,” Stiles promised.

After that, things at the Blackwood Pack seemed to finally settle down some. Ennis and Kali ended up joining the Blackwood Pack, after Braeden and Chris brought home the severed head of Kali’s Emissary (su—uper gross and Stiles totally fainted at the sight and then got scolded because Marin had told him not to be in the room). The pack was so much smaller than it had been when Stiles had first joined it – the attack from Gerard, the betrayal from Marco who had taken a large portion of the Betas that were left. But those that had remained were loyal to Deucalion, and then Chris, Allison, Ennis and Kali joined the pack and strengthened it. The pack finally had peace and the chance to grow together, as it was now. Stiles finally had the chance to heal.

He still missed his parents – would miss them both forever – but Deuc and Chris took good care of him and did their best to be dads, regardless of just how unintentionally it had happened for Chris. Somehow, he just kind of started helping Deuc parent, because he knew about being a parent to a child Stiles’ age, while Deuc helped Chris with the grief. And though Stiles didn’t call either of them dad – dad would forever be dad and nobody could replace him – Allison was absolutely, one hundred percent his sister now, no take-backs on that.

“Good morning, Stiles,” Marin smiled at him and there was some mischief to it.

That expression had Stiles perk up, because it usually meant good things in his experience. He had settled into the pack, was taking to it like a wolf, as Deuc liked to claim (and quite proudly so). The seasons changed and he had really gotten used to Silver Lake too. Spending the summers swimming in the lake, going into the woods to hunt with Chris in autumn. Stiles was twelve years old now and there was a buzzing unrest within him that felt like it was more than just his ADHD.

“Morning,” Stiles stole a cup of coffee and sat down next to her.

“You know you’re too young for that and it also doesn’t go well with your meds,” Marin pointed out with a frown, trying to take the coffee away from him.

Stiles gave a growl that was an impressive imitation of a wolf, turning away from her. “Mine.”

“I am so sorry,” Chris heaved a deep sigh and turned to look at them from his spot at the stove. “I never should have let him try it. I assumed the bitter taste would gross him out.”

Stiles offered a toothy grin to his surrogate dad, watching Chris and Ennis cooking breakfast together. It looked like chicken and waffles. There was always meat for breakfast when Ennis was in charge and Stiles did delight in it. Kali being in charge was a nightmare because there would be like yogurt with sad cereals (the kind with dried fruit and nuts that didn’t come in fun shapes and coated in sugar and artificial coloring). She was all about a healthy start into the day, while her mate was more into a hearty start into the day. Stiles firmly sided with Ennis on that one.

“I would like to take you out on a little trip today,” Marin said.

Stiles immediately narrowed his eyes in suspicion. “What kind of trip?”

The mischief returned to her eyes. “I believe one that you will enjoy.”

“And Deuc’s okay with that?” Ennis asked, sounding worried. “He’s still pretty young.”

“I’m like nearly thirteen, which makes me basically a teenager,” Stiles argued annoyed.

Chris snorted at that. “The fact that Allison is four months older than him really pisses him off.”

It honestly did. Because she had only just turned thirteen, while Stiles was still twelve, which sucked. Thirteen just felt important, because it meant being a teenager, no longer a kid. Stiles totally couldn’t wait to be teenagers with Allison, or for them to finally go to high school with her. He knew reality wouldn’t be like TV obviously, because it never was in any respects, but still, watching all these shows of teenagers having adventures in high school, it had him eager to experience it himself. Well, sans the cartoonishly evil bullies, please.

“What kind of trip?” Stiles asked, zeroing in on Marin.

“Eat your breakfast and then you’ll see,” Marin promised.

A surprise? Did she not know that his brain was going to overthink this into oblivion until Stiles would finally learn the truth? All through breakfast, he kept bouncing nervously. Allison kept shooting him curious looks but he had no brain power to explain, he was thinking too hard. Once he was done eating, he fixated Marin with an intense look while she finished eating.

“Why is he being weird and staring at you, babe?” Braeden asked, looking from Marin to Stiles.

“I told him I have a surprise planned for him,” Marin said with a smile.

“That’s evil. You know how he is,” Allison complained on Stiles’ behalf.

“Thank you, sis. That is why you are my favorite in this family,” Stiles pouted.

But then, finally, Marin was done eating. The second she put her plate in the dishwasher, Stiles grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the door. He needed to know now. Marin chuckled at his impatience and seemed to take extra long to put on her coat and shoes. When they finally left, they headed out into the woods together. Deeper and deeper. He rarely got this deep into the forest, that was for all the wolves to run around in. They seemed to be walking forever.

“What do you remember of your mother’s ties to our supernatural world?”

The question caught him off-guard. They’d been walking in silence for like an hour now. Furrowing his brows, Stiles turned to look at her sideways. Claudia had died four years ago now. Deuc took Stiles to Beacon Hills for every anniversary, Mother’s Day and her birthday. The same for his dad too. And whenever Stiles was feeling particularly down and missed them hard. But the time before she died seemed so very long ago and from that, her sickness stood out the most. He had to fight to remember the good moments, the smiles and laughter and love. The first memories that came to him would always be the hatred, the vile words, the pain, both physical and emotional.

“She was something magical,” Stiles answered after a long moment. “A Spark. I know it’s not the same as a Druid or witch, I read whatever books I could find in uncle Deuc’s library to learn more about it but it was all a little… I don’t know. Vague?”

“Mh. Because Sparks are rare, and there are very few books actually written by Sparks. So the ones you read were vague because they were second hand recounts,” Marin explained. “A Spark is a magic-user whose magic comes from within. You carry the magic in your very soul, it was given to you by the Nemeton. The center of all magic within the territory. She chose you as its guardian, just like she chose your mother before you.”

“Oh,” Stiles whispered, his heart skipping a beat.

“You’ve been more… fidgety lately, even for you,” Marin pointed out. “Have you been feeling like you have an excess amount of energy that you can’t seem to get rid of?”

“Yeah,” Stiles turned to stare wide-eyed at her. “Yeah, I do.”

“It’s… early, but I think that’s you coming into your magic,” Marin explained. “It’s not just nervous energy that you have, it’s your magic and since you’re not using it, it’s just coursing through your veins. I want to start teaching you techniques to channel that magic.”

Stiles had magic. Theoretically, he knew that, he knew he was a Spark. But it had always been a ‘when you’re older’ kind of deal. It seemed he was finally old enough. He stumbled when they reached a clearing and even without knowing, he somehow still knew that the gigantic tree stump in the middle of the clearing was the Nemeton. He could feel her inside, the way he could feel his pack-bonds. He walked over to the tree and reached a curious hand out for it.

The Nemeton was the heart of the territory. Not just Deuc’s territory. The heart of Beacon County, the center around which all the packs had been gathered. Not that there were many left now, after Kali and Ennis had lost theirs. Still, all the packs were under this tree’s protection and in return protected her and her land. And Stiles… Stiles was her chosen guardian, which was a damn big deal, he knew that. He knew how important Nemetons were, not just to wolves.

“Hi,” Stiles whispered. “Thanks for trusting me. I hope I won’t let you down.”

There was a pulse of warmth and affection coming from the tree, making Stiles smile.

When Stiles and Allison were fourteen, the pack gained two new pack-members, in Ethan and Aiden Steiner. The twins had been abused in their old pack and ran away, hearing about the Blackwood Pack taking in people who needed a new home, a fresh start. The twins went to school with Stiles and Allison and the four teenagers quickly became friends.

“You are pretty impressive,” Ethan commented, his eyebrows raised.

They were out in the garden behind the pack house together. Stiles was practicing – because practice made perfect and also he needed to use his magic otherwise it’d pent up and leave him buzzing with too much energy, which nobody appreciated. And the twins and Allison liked to sit by and watch him. Over the past two years, Stiles had grown very used to his magic, but apparently it was still very impressive for others. Stiles grinned as he let the garden grow. Sure, he could do all the same tricks that Druids or witches could do – spells, rituals, potions, Marin had taught all the basic techniques to him, Deuc had bought him all the books he could need – but his own inherent magic was something else entirely. The control over the elements, he could summon storms, control the winds, grow plants, shape the Earth, summon fires.

“I’m a real-life Avatar,” Stiles grinned.

“You laugh, but I have never seen anyone do what you do,” Aiden argued.

Stiles flushed a little. He still didn’t do too well with compliments. Though he knew he was a Spark, he knew he was powerful even for a Spark. Marin had taken him to meet another Spark, Marge Cotton in San Francisco, for her to evaluate his powers. He was ‘extraordinaire’, it seemed. Stiles couldn’t really compare it with anything, since he didn’t have much experience with other magic-users in general. It was just hard to believe for him that he was something special like that.

“Ye—ep, my little brother is very impressive, even if he doesn’t think so,” Allison declared.

She grinned proudly at him and nudged him. Chris stepped out of the house and looked at them.

“Stop playing around with the garden and get me the carrots I asked for half an hour ago,” Chris sighed, glaring at the twins. “And stop distracting Stiles, he’s training.”

“We’re not distracting him!” Ethan huffed, but he went to the carrots.

Stiles twirled his finger twice and gave the carrots a little extra boost to make them grow some more. Chris’ carrot-soup was always amazing, but for their whole pack, they needed a lot. Chris gave him a smile and squeezed his shoulder lightly when he noticed.

“Don’t overdo it, kid,” Chris requested gently. “Dinner in an hour, yeah?”

Stiles grinned and nodded at his surrogate dad before returning to his work. Chris regularly took Stiles to the shooting range, let him connect with the side of his father’s, learn the things Noah would have taught him if… if he was still alive. Stiles was grateful to have both Deuc and Chris, and for everything they had done for him over the years.

Deucalion was frowning deeply and rubbing his face, worry creasing his brows. His mate leaned into him, resting a hand on Deucalion’s thigh to give it a gentle squeeze. There was curiosity and concern in Chris’ blue eyes as he leaned in to press a kiss to Deucalion’s cheek.

“What is it?” Chris asked. “Something’s been eating away at you all day long.”

“Talia called,” Deucalion heaved a sigh. “It’s… time again. It’s been seven years. The Alpha summit happens every seven years. But… after all that’s happened last time, I’m…”

“Ah,” Chris leaned closer and nuzzled against his Alpha and mate. “We wouldn’t have each other, if not for that last summit meeting. Allison would have never gotten the… chance at a normal childhood. Our family wouldn’t exist. I know there was… so much loss. I know that. But this time will be different. I will be at your side. And don’t forget about Stiles.”

“I’m never forgetting about Stiles,” Deucalion huffed, then sighed. “Stiles is one of the reasons I’m worried. This would be the summit to officially introduce Stiles as the Spark of Beacon County. I’m worried about the target this may paint on his pack, the pressure it will put on him. I’m worried about the other Alphas’ opinions and how they will make Stiles feel.”

“Stiles is sixteen now, he can handle himself, babe,” Chris pointed out. “Our kid’s tough. If anyone’s going to give him shit, he will fight back.”

“That’s just another thing to be worried about,” Deucalion countered dryly. “Do you want to have to break up a fight between Stiles and another Alpha’s kid?”

“...Point,” Chris nodded slowly. “Stiles would try to throw hands with a werewolf, uncaring if they are an Alpha’s heir too. Allison is pretty good at reining him in.”

They shared a look and a laugh at that. Most of the time, Allison enabled Stiles. Sighing, Deucalion leaned into his mate, accepting the support and strength from Chris.

“I’ll confirm our participation, then,” Deucalion whispered, still worried.

“We got this, together. As a family, and a pack,” Chris assured him.

Stiles was buzzing with nervous energy as he walked directly behind Deuc and Chris, Allison at his side. Behind them were Ennis and Kali, as Deuc’s Right and Left Hand, and Marin, as his Emissary. Braeden fell in line with all the other Betas. This was the first big official thing with other packs that he was attending as a fully fledged Spark.

“Alpha Deucalion Blackwood, with his mate Christopher Blackwood,” a young woman announced. “And their heirs, Stiles and Allison Blackwood.”

“Stilinski Blackwood,” Stiles corrected with a mild glare.

The woman looked at him in surprise. “Pardon. Stiles Stilinski Blackwood.”

He may be the Demon Wolf’s heir, but he was still a Stilinski first. They came to stand together in front of the impressive Hale House. Right in front of the house stood the Hale Pack, Talia Hale and her own mate at the front, with their own three kids by their side. Stiles knew the basics – Laura, the oldest and Alpha heir, Derek, the middle child, and Cora, the youngest, who should be about Stiles and Allison’s age. Talia’s sister-in-law Fiona was her Right Hand, married to Talia’s human brother Aaron, they had three children too, Sloan, Jason and Lucas. Talia’s other brother Peter was the Left Hand, unmated but father of a daughter, Malia. There was also the Alpha’s mother and former Emissary of the pack, Dalia. It was a pretty big family.

While the woman introduced the other packs, Stiles let his eyes wander, especially over the Hales, their hosts. The oldest family of werewolves in Beacon County. From the way they stood lined up, Stiles could pretty much pick out each person. But his gaze lingered on the Left Hand. It was like Stiles couldn’t tear his eyes away from that absolute masterpiece of a man. The cut jawline, the sharp, blue eyes that were piercing even on a distance. His dark hair and well-groomed goatee. And ooof, that ridiculously tight and low-cut v-neck shirt he was wearing that drew the attention to his firm chest and the dip of his collarbone. An elbow hit him from behind.

“Stop being horny, there are werewolves here who can smell that,” Ethan hissed at him.

Stiles’ eyes widened in mortification and he avoided looking at his uncles, hoping they would have the decency to just ignore this. At least they were far enough from the Hale Pack that the hot wolf himself wouldn’t be able to smell Stiles’ attraction. Now Stiles just had to rein that in and behave totally normal and not horny around him. Easy thing, right?

In his experience, werewolf senses had helped with these things. Him and Ethan used to have kind of a thing a year ago. It wasn’t love, but mutual attraction and fun. A relationship, fine. And Ethan being able to smell and sense Stiles’ attraction had eased that. But being attracted to the much older wolf who was also the Left Hand of a different pack? That was very different.

“Ally, I don’t know if I’ll survive this meeting,” Stiles whispered, as low as possible.

Allison sputtered and shot him a pointed look at which he could just give a helpless shrug. He’d been kind of spoiled by Deuc – he usually got what he wanted. Books, opportunities, clothes, anything. Uncle Deuc spoiled him, made sure he was never left wanting, something he had promised at Stiles’ birth already. And he had gotten the last wolf he’d been attracted to too. He’d had others too, a cute little relationship with a girl from their class when he was thirteen, baby’s first relationship that was all awkward and checking every box both kids had known from TV with holding hands and what they imagined dates to be. Stiles usually got what he wanted, so wanting the Left Hand of the Hale Pack could prove to be a problem.

/break\

Talia and Deucalion had been friends for a long time, but Peter’s job as her Left Hand was to protect the pack. He wasn’t blinded by fuzzy feelings and nostalgia. Deucalion Blackwood had decided to marry an Argent and adopt another Argent. As far as Peter was concerned, that was a threat until proven otherwise. So when the annual Alpha summit started, Peter set out to keep a very close eye on the Blackwood Pack, particularly the Alpha’s family.

“If you keep staring at Chris that intensely, uncle Deuc might get jealous. Which could be dangerous for you. They don’t call him the Demon Wolf for shits and giggles, you know.”

Peter startled at the sudden voice. He was not just an apex predator, he was also particularly trained in stealth and in being aware of his surroundings. When he turned, there was a beautiful and cheekily grinning boy sitting right next to him. Large doe-eyes stared at him, framed with long lashes. His dark hair was styled up and he was wearing a red hoodie with the Blackwood Pack’s symbol printed on the front. Wearing his family crest with pride.

“Stiles, if I’m not mistaken,” Peter tilted his head.

“Ye—ep. Peter, right?” Stiles asked, still grinning.

There was a barbecue tonight, to celebrate all packs coming together. To welcome the new packs that had moved into the county over the past seven years, filling the gaping holes left behind by the Kreul Pack and the Dunham Pack. Peter could see the deep sadness and nostalgia on both Kali and Ennis as they interacted with the young packs that took over their former territories.

“I’m sure you have more interesting places to be,” Peter urged.

He wanted to keep an eye on the Blackwood family, but not that close. He didn’t need Deucalion’s heir right by his side, that made watching him and his family much harder. Especially since the boy was bound to draw his fathers’ attention, which meant their attention would land on Peter too.

“More interesting than seeing the most renounced Left Hand in California at work?” Stiles scrunched up his nose cutely, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Nah, not really.”

“You’re quite mistaken, sweetheart. I’m not working. We’re having a barbecue.”

For emphasis, he lifted the disgusting beer that had been forced into his hand by a stoically glaring Derek, telling him to stop being a snob for one night. Damn brat. Stiles snorted, utterly unconvinced, and then continued eating his steak, having fully sat down next to Peter with his food.

“You don’t trust Chris,” Stiles said casually. “Because he used to be an Argent, right?”

“Clever boy,” Peter hummed teasingly.

And then he raised his eyebrows high at the sweet spike in Stiles’ scent. The boy flushed and avoided his eyes, knowing exactly what he smelt like right now. What a very interesting Praise Kink, mh? Peter smiled bemused and looked Stiles up and down. He was quite gorgeous to look at and clearly observant. That scent was very appealing too and Peter liked being the cause of it.

“I get it,” Stiles cleared his throat. “You’re the Left Hand, your pack’s safety is your top priority.”

“I’m glad you understand that,” Peter cocked one eyebrow, waiting for the other shoe.

But my family’s safety is my top priority,” Stiles straightened up and met Peter’s gaze head on. “So if you overstep and become a threat to my family, we’re going to have a problem.”

Peter tilted his head intrigued. The boy was unflinching and delivered the threat in a way that Peter couldn’t scoff at it, despite being a werewolf faced with a human teenager. Interesting.

“Understood,” Peter smiled lightly. “As long as he doesn’t become a problem, there is nothing to worry about, for any of us, mh?”

So Stiles’ Spark reveal had gone better than anticipated. The Alphas all looked surprised at him and then bowed their heads. It was utterly ridiculous to have all of these strong, powerful Alphas show him respect. He was just a sixteen year old brat! Sure, by werewolf standards, he was now considered off-age, which was why Deuc had decided to introduce him officially. But Stiles still felt woefully… inadequate. For now, the Alphas were the only ones to know.

“She is really pretty,” Allison whispered very softly.

Stiles frowned confused and then followed Allison’s gaze over to where Peter and his sister were sitting together, talking. Malia was both, Peter’s daughter and also his apprentice, as Stiles had learned since they had arrived here yesterday. She seemed to share her father’s ruthlessness.

“So you two have the same taste,” Aiden declared, resting one hand on each’s shoulder.

“Shut u—up,” Stiles hissed wide-eyed.

For a moment, Allison frowned, looking from Stiles over to the two Hales. “You like Mal… Oh.”

The moment she pieced together that Stiles didn’t like Malia, she started giggling. Typical mean sister. Making fun of him for his horrible taste. He flushed and glared. Yes, he was well-aware that the hot DILF was way out of his league and not a realistic person to like, not for Stiles, but did she have to laugh at him like that? He pouted sourly at her.

“That’s… Dads are not going to like that,” Allison whispered once she was calmed down.

Stiles made a face. Yeah, on his list of ‘people who shouldn’t find out about his attraction to Peter Hale’, Deuc and Chris actually tied for second place. With Peter Hale at the top spot.

“Shut up, we’re only going to be here for a weekend anyway. We’ll leave again tomorrow.”

Stiles grumbled and crossed his arms. Before he could wallow any more in self-pity did Malia Hale actually approach them, together with her cousin Cora. They sat down together with Stiles, Allison and the twins, asking what they were doing and in lack of anything else to do, Stiles provided his set of cards and suggested a game of poker.

“Never played that before,” Cora furrowed her brows.

“No problem,” Stiles grinned slyly. “I can teach you.”

“He also cheats,” Allison warned her.

“I wanna learn how to play,” Malia tilted her head. “And how to cheat.”

“You really are uncle Peter’s daughter,” Cora snorted and rolled her eyes.

Stiles laughed and shuffled his cards. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Peter walk away with Kali, talking to the other Left Hand. Damn that man was fine from behind too. Thankfully, this summit meeting was going to end tomorrow and Stiles would never have to worry about Peter Hale or how fine that man was. Stiles felt a little sad at that thought though.

Peter smiled amused as he watched his daughter dance with the Blackwood girl. She wasn’t a threat, she was just a girl. The other one, Peter was still wary of. He had the training of a hunter and the instincts of one too. However, over the past three days, Peter had seen the man’s devotion to his mate and their family. Christopher Blackwood was a hunter, and a wolf.

“It was a good meeting,” Talia spoke up next to him, her eyes on Stiles. “An… interesting one.”

“Interesting?” Peter raised one eyebrow.

Oh, he knew why he found Stiles interesting. He was beautiful, bright and brave. Though now a wolf, he had the makings of a great wolf. But why did his sister find the boy interesting?

“I’ll tell you after,” Talia murmured, though there was amusement in her eyes.

Even more interesting. Now that Peter was looking at Stiles, he couldn’t seem to look away either. The boy was laughing, a beautiful and bright sound, as he talked to some members of his pack. He was captivating and far too tempting for Peter’s liking. A good thing he would be living tonight. The last thing Peter needed was to be tempted by that boy and incur the Demon Wolf’s wrath.

Humming softly, Peter walked into the kitchen to make himself a coffee. “Morning, Peter.”

“Good morning, sweetheart,” Peter greeted on reflex.

And then he paused and took a couple steps back to confirm that yes, indeed, that was the Blackwood sweetheart, sitting at the Hale breakfast table. The Spark of Beacon County, as Talia had disclosed to Peter and Fiona the day after the Alpha summit. Peter tilted his head, taking in how comfortable the boy looked, hair all fluffed-up and not styled, wearing a hoodie and sweatpants.

“Did your fathers forget you here?” Peter asked curiously.

“My uncles,” Stiles corrected with a narrow-eyed look. “Didn’t forget me. I’m visiting.”

“Visiting,” Peter echoed. “Visiting whom? Or what?”

He continued on to the coffee machine to make himself coffee. Stiles was already nursing a cup, somehow. Most likely not the first one, considering there wasn’t any coffee left.

“Me,” Malia chimed as she walked into the kitchen. “And he brought me something sweet.”

“Don’t talk about my sister like that,” Stiles rolled his eyes.

Malia was directly followed by a slightly flustered Allison. How very interesting. Peter raised both his eyebrows and regarded his daughter long and hard. Malia smiled at him and stole his coffee.

“What am I missing here?” Peter asked.

“So when a wolf and an archer like each other very much but live two hours apart and neither has a driver’s license, a Spark ends up playing chauffeur so the kissing can happen,” Stiles supplied dryly.

Peter couldn’t help the fond chuckle as he sat down next to Stiles. While Malia was grinning broadly, Allison looked a little flustered. So that dance at the final barbecue had been more than just a dance, then? Well, if his daughter thought she could make a relationship work with the distance, Peter wasn’t going to get in the way, regardless of how suspicious he had been of the former Argent.

“Spark, mh?” Peter asked, regarding Stiles deeply.

Stiles rolled his eyes. “Don’t act surprised. You’re the Left Hand, your Alpha totally told you.”

She had, and Peter had been overcome with an intense wave of want. Stiles grinned at him. If the Spark was going to be around more, to serve as his sister’s chauffeur, then that could be a problem. The boy was far too delightful for Peter’s good.

Ally hooking up with Malia Hale was honestly such a great opportunity for Stiles. Since his sister still didn’t have her driver’s license, she would use the big, sad puppy-dog eyes on him to make him drive her over to Beacon Hills over the weekend, with the Hale Pack generously also welcoming Stiles to stay over. Stiles had already befriended Cora and Sloan, he was teaching Jason the best pranks and he was currently in the process of befriending Derek.

“So, what disastrous romantic decisions is your older sister making?” Stiles asked casually.

“Parrish,” Derek stated dryly. “She started working at the sheriff station and she keeps dragging her partner home like he’s a stray puppy-dog.”

“Daw,” Stiles grinned. “And is he okay?”

Derek gave it a shrug. “He’s… kind. Like, annoyingly nice. And I think he could do better.”

“Fuck you, Der,” Laura hissed as she stomped into the kitchen, flashing her eyes at Derek. “Why Paige is putting up with you is absolutely beyond me! She could do better! Leagues better!”

Stiles snickered as he watched the two siblings devolve into bickering. He cut off abruptly when a sleep-mussed Peter entered the kitchen. Oh, that was a visual Stiles was never growing tired of. Especially since he wasn’t wearing a shirt this fine morning, just the low-riding sweat-pants.

“Urgh, Stiles,” Derek groaned. “Stop smelling like that.”

He gave Stiles a hard shove and Stiles flushed furiously. He closed his eyes tightly and tried to think of everything unsexy he could imagine to stop smelling aroused. Peter chuckled amused.

“I don’t mind, it’s quite flattering, sweetheart,” Peter smiled wickedly at Stiles.

And bahm the arousal was back full-force. Groaning, Stiles buried his face in his arms.

“Stop teasing the poor kid, uncle Peter,” Laura chided him. “Or I’ll tell mom that you are tormenting the Spark. You’d be in so much trouble.”

“I’m not tormenting him and if I were tormenting him, I’d make it good for him too.”

Peter winked at him and yeah, the man was definitely tormenting Stiles. Why would the wolf make fun of him like that? Wasn’t it bad enough that all the wolves could smell his attraction?

/break\

It happened about half a year after the Alpha summit that Peter realized just how powerful and special the pretty little Spark was. There was a threat loose in Beacon Hills and when Peter noticed that his daughter had invited her girlfriend, he had very sternly told Allison, Stiles and the Hale brood to stay inside until he told them it was safe again. Naturally had Stiles not listened.

Annoyingly enough, Stiles not listening ended up saving Peter’s life so he couldn’t even be righteously annoyed about it. The monster – a kind of scorpion-creature the size of a pony – had stung him and its poison was quickly working through his body. He’d collapsed and laid helplessly before the creature, ready to be devoured, if not for one vengeful spark.

Peter couldn’t even comprehend it at first, when the sky darkened above him and thunder rolled loudly. The beast readied itself to attack Peter and suddenly, Stiles stood there, a hand lifted and his eyes glowing bright, magical teal as lightning came down and hit the creature dead on.

“Peter,” Stiles gasped out, stumbling to his side. “Are you okay? What’s wrong?”

“Sting,” Peter forced out, pulling his shirt up.

Stiles furrowed his brows in concern and got to work. He took off his backpack and rummaged through it, having brought some essentials for healing. He’d come prepared. He had followed Peter into danger and came prepared to help. Peter’s eyes softened as he watched the boy.

“Okay. Okay, okay, okay,” Stiles’ hands were shaking. “I… I don’t have enough to make a proper anti-dote, but this should… should stop it from spreading. I’m gonna get some of the poison. Can… Do you think you can walk? At least back to my Jeep? It’s like ten minutes?”

“Yes,” Peter said softly. “I can… I’ll manage, sweetheart.”

Stiles gave a jerky nod and then went with an empty vial to fill it with the poison from the stinger. Peter all the while forced himself upright. He stumbled a little forward, but before he could fall, Stiles caught him. He laid one of Peter’s arms around his own shoulders.

“Lean on me, okay? We’ll get you home safely. Together,” Stiles promised.

“Thank you, sweetheart,” Peter smiled gently at the Spark. “You saved me.”

Stiles flushed delightfully and turned away. “Just walk, okay.”

Peter blinked heavily when he woke up. There was still a throbbing in his stomach-area, but he was alive and he didn’t feel as weak as he had when Stiles had gotten him home. Speaking of… There was that sweet honey-lightning scent surrounding him. Tilting his head, Peter looked around and was surprised to find Stiles curled up on a chair next to Peter’s bed, his arms folded on the mattress.

“He hasn’t left your side since he brought you home two days ago.”

Peter’s eyes widened in surprise and he turned to look at his sister in the doorway. Talia looked tired, her hair in a messy bun. She walked over to her brother and brushed her fingers through his hair before pressing a kiss to his forehead.

“Mother worked hard on saving you,” Talia whispered softly. “And Stiles has been sitting at your bedside since then. Damon keeps forcing him to eat something, but he refuses to be moved.”

“He was… magnificent,” Peter looked gently at Stiles. “And he’s powerful.”

“Yes,” Talia chuckled. “Marin said that even for a Spark, he is powerful. Mother was quite impressed by the display too. You should be very careful with this one.”

Peter shot her a glare. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Don’t pretend, not around me,” Talia rolled her eyes. “I know you. I see the way you look at him.”

Deflating, Peter heaved a defeated sigh. Yes, the more often Stiles stayed over at the Hale House, the more meals Peter shared with him, the more he bantered with Stiles (mostly at the costs of his niblings), the fonder he grew of the boy. By now he was quite smitten, he knew that.

“What do I do, Tali?” Peter asked in an unsure voice.

He reached out to caress Stiles’ hair. The sleeping Spark pushed into his hand, mumbling softly without waking. Peter had to smile at that, brushing through Stiles’ soft hair and resting his hand in the nape of Stiles’ neck and giving it a gentle squeeze.

“Considering he just saved your life? At least invite the boy out for dinner,” Talia suggested. “Also, the entire rest of the family is getting tired of your heavy flirting at the breakfast table.”

“You think that’s going to get better if I take the boy on a date?” Peter teased.

“Probably not, but at least we can confidently tell you two to take it to your room.”

Talia smirked at Peter and Peter couldn’t help but huff out a laugh. Maybe it was time.

“Is this good? This isn’t good, right? It’s stupid. I look stupid. Never mind, I’ll-”

“Stop changing,” Ethan ordered, catching Stiles’ wrists before they could go for the shirt.

“Yeah, unless you want to go on that date in your underwear, you should really stop changing,” Allison agreed exasperated. “Peter’s going to be here any minute. And you look good.”

Stiles frowned and looked at the mirror. He was wearing black slacks and a tight, red shirt – Malia had told him that red was Peter’s favorite color, so Stiles was trying to appeal to Peter. At which Malia had rolled her eyes, because ‘you already appeal to him, idiot’. The doorbell rang before he had a chance to change his mind. His eyes widened and he darted out of his room, stumbling down the stairs two steps at a time in a race to get to the door before--

“Peter Hale,” Deucalion’s voice was very neutral and very polite.

No—o. Stiles groaned and closed his eyes tightly. He came to a halt just to see both Deuc and Chris standing in front of the door with their arms crossed, blocking the entrance for Peter.

“Please don’t give him a shovel-talk. Please just, shoo,” Stiles pleaded.

He squeezed past his uncles and then gasped as he saw Peter, wearing a ridiculously well-fitted shirt and a smirk that was dazzling. A finger curled under Stiles’ chin and gently closed his mouth.

“You’re catching flies, sweetheart,” Peter teased. “You look stunning too.”

Stiles still couldn’t believe that this was happening, that Peter had asked him out on a date. Maybe it was misplaced guilt or like this hero-savior complex thing that he had heard for fire fighters and such. Since he had saved Peter’s life. Either way, he wasn’t dumb enough to reject the offer. He was having a real, actual date with Peter Hale. Peter wrapped one arm around Stiles’ waist to draw him close, the hand rubbing along Stiles’ back. Scent-marking Stiles.

“You’ll have our boy home by ten. And if you hurt him, I still got enough wolfsbane bullets left and I still know how to hunt a werewolf, Hale,” Chris warned, eyes flashing blue.

Stiles gave a groan and buried his face in Peter’s neck. Deucalion growled softly in agreement.

“Take my mate’s words seriously, Peter,” Deucalion agreed in a low voice. “Be careful, Stiles is the most precious thing I have. If you ever make him cry, I will make you bleed.”

Great, just great. Because it wasn’t unrealistic enough that Peter would want to date him, nope, now Stiles’ overprotective uncles had to definitely make Peter reconsider this. Yet instead of pushing Stiles away or excusing himself, Peter just tightened his grip on Stiles.

“Don’t worry, I have no plans of hurting him. I know just how special that boy is and I plan on cherishing him,” Peter promised. “Ten PM sharp. He’ll be home safe.”

Stiles blinked doe-eyed at Peter, his heart racing in awe at the declaration. And then the door closed and Peter whisked him away to the wolf’s ridiculously expensive car.

Peter still couldn’t quite believe that the beautiful, cheeky, sarcastic young Spark was his. He’d done his everything to woo Stiles, the way that boy was worth wooing. Taking him out to expensive dinners, going shopping with him so Peter could spoil him and buy him clothes that particularly accentuated Stiles’ best features (very long legs and a perfectly tempting, round, firm ass). He didn’t even mind the overprotective Alpha Pair who kept growling at him if he was even just one minute late in bringing Stiles home after a date. Needless to say, Peter’s favorite time was when Stiles was in Beacon Hills to bring Allison over for a weekend – and Peter would have his boy all to himself (well, mostly to himself. His niblings tended to steal Stiles during the day).

“Beautiful, lovely little Spark,” Peter whispered gently as he trailed kisses down Stiles’ neck.

Though he got to fall asleep with Stiles in his arms and there had been quite a lot of kissing and making out, so far they hadn’t done more. Peter wasn’t going to initiate any of that. He wanted his boy to come to him, so Peter could be sure that Stiles was truly ready and didn’t feel pressured into agreeing to anything he wasn’t ready for. Stiles shuddered awake beneath Peter.

“That’s a nice way of being woken up,” Stiles grinned sleepily. “Morning, Pretty Wolf.”

Stiles wrapped one arm around Peter’s neck, his fingers entangling in the hair at Peter’s nape, before drawing him down into a slow, deep kiss. Peter moved, adjusting himself to deepen the kiss. Stiles’ legs quite eagerly fell apart to make room for him and more so to wrap around Peter’s hips. Peter gasped into their kiss when he was pulled down so their crotches touched.

“Sweetheart,” Peter warned slowly.

But Stiles’ free hand was curled into Peter’s shirt, holding him close. “Gods, please, I want you so bad. If you don’t wanna have sex, just… just say it, but I can’t with the blueballs anymore.”

“Me not wanting…” Peter raised both eyebrows stunned. “Sweet boy, I desperately want you, but I do not want to push you. I want you to be sure.”

“I’m sure, I am so sure, Peter, I want yo like crazy,” Stiles groaned, clinging onto him tightly.

“Yes, sweetness?” Peter asked with a teasing smile, nosing along Stiles’ jawline. “Tell me more.”

“Tease,” Stiles mumbled flustered. “I want you really badly. Please, Peter?”

Peter brought some distance between them so he could look down at the beautiful boy beneath him. Stiles’ cheeks were flushed and his eyes half-lid, his hair still messy and soft from sleep. It was a picture Peter wouldn’t mind waking up to every single day. Leaning back down, he captured that pink, pouty mouth into another kiss, leaving it spit-slick and red.

“Tell me what you want, sweet boy,” Peter instructed.

His hands gently pushed Stiles’ shirt up, revealing his taunt stomach. Slowly, Peter kissed up toward his boy’s chest, his tongue laving at the perky, pink nipples until Stiles was squirming beneath him and whining so cutely. He already knew how to draw some beautiful sounds of his boy, having learned how sensitive certain parts of Stiles were. Stiles’ fingers curled into Peter’s hair.

“I want—ah! I want that tongue of yours on my dick, fuck, I really want that,” Stiles panted.

Peter smirked against Stiles’ skin and then hooked his fingers into Stiles’ sweat-pants to pull them down. Stiles wiggled to help with that and then quickly spread his legs in invitation. Kissing his way back down, Peter was happy to reach his prize. He liked a broad strip up the curve of Stiles’ cock, earning a yelled curse from Stiles. When Peter wrapped his lips around the head of Stiles’ dock, he reached for his nightstand to get his lube out. Peter lubed his fingers up and eased one finger into Stiles while swallowing him whole. The reaction was instantaneous.

“Oh gods, oh fuck, please, that’s, I, ah!” Stiles whined and bucked up. “I can’t, that’s too much!”

How very adorable his boy was. Peter smirked around Stiles cock and started bobbing his head and fingering his Spark. When he slipped a second finger in, Stiles started squirming, seemingly a little lost as to what to do with his hands. Peter pulled off and out of Stiles so he could grab Stiles’ wrists.

“How about you hold onto the headboard, mh?” Peter instructed gently. “Be good for me, just lean back and let me take you apart, can you do that?”

Stiles arched his back, his fingers curled around the silver bars at the headboard. “Yes, Daddy.”

Oh, that was new. Not surprising though, because that boy had multiple layers of daddy issues. Peter had wondered what it would take to crack that shell. It seemed some gentle orders and oral sex were enough. Peter smiled gently and pressed a kiss to Stiles’ forehead.

“There’s a good boy,” Peter praised him. “Let Daddy take care of you.”

There was a sharp intake of breath, Stiles’ cock giving a jerk at that. Stiles stared at him in awe, like he hadn’t expected the acceptance. All Peter could do was kiss his boy and then go back to going down on him. He’d been hungry to get his mouth on Stiles’ cock for months now.

“I can’t,” Stiles whined softly. “I’ll come if you keep doing that, I can’t last, I-”

Sighing, Peter pulled off that delicious cock again, but he kept his fingers inside Stiles. Three fingers, spreading his boy, teasing his velvet-soft insides and brushing against his prostate every now and again. Stiles was flushed, his pupils blown, mouth standing invitingly open.

“Be good for me,” Peter ordered, voice low and more firm than before. “Come for Daddy.”

He barely got to wrap his lips around Stiles again before the boy came hard. So cute. Peter couldn’t wait to wreck Stiles in every way possible, figuring out what would drive his boy the wildest.

“Look at you,” Peter murmured proudly. “So good, so beautiful, so perfect for Daddy.”

“But… But…” Stiles pouted at him. “I wanted your cock, I wanted you to fuck me, Daddy.”

“Aren’t you precious?” Peter cooed, pressing a kiss to Stiles’ cheek. “I’m going to fuck you and you’ll be a good boy and come on my cock again, sweetheart.”

Stiles started cursing softly again, nodding so wildly it looked like his head would come off any second now. Peter laughed and nosed along Stiles’ neck. Pulling out of Stiles, he spread the boy’s legs further and finally, finally got to sink into that welcoming heat.

“Sweet boy, so tight and perfect for Daddy,” Peter groaned, rolling his hips.

“Daddy, please,” Stiles whined, still obediently clinging to the headboard. “Please, harder.”

Peter watched dark-eyed how his boy squirmed and arched in pleasure. He picked up the pace, fucking Stiles hard and deep, drawing all the sweetest sounds out of his sweet boy. Stiles was absolutely perfect like that, he felt like he was made just for Peter, to be Peter’s.

“So good, baby,” Peter groaned. “So tight and pretty, you’re so good for Daddy. Daddy’s going to take such good care of you, going to make you feel so good, sweet boy. You’re so lovely, baby boy.”

Stiles whined and writhed, desperate and needy. Peter’s fingers wrapped around his half-hard cock so he could jerk Stiles off in time with his thrusts. They came nearly at the same time, Stiles melting beneath him while Peter rode out his orgasm, filling his sweet, pliant boy. He gently kissed Stiles’ brow as he laid down with Stiles and pulled his boy close against his chest.
