His plans splinter when Henry tells him about her drug problem and he ends up breaking the news earlier than he wanted to.
Follows the family through love and loss and grief that Gabe makes incredibly hopeful, in only the way Gabe can.

it is 4.32AM as I write this... I started maybe somewhere around 2AM and kept reading even thought I have a busy day tomorrow... today? anyway, I've spent maybe the last hour or so reading this in tears, because this fic is beautiful. so beautiful. truly a work of art. it is so emotional, and incredibly and heartbreaking, absolutely heartbreaking. I knew the premise as soon as I read the summary, and even so, I read it anyway. I've read some of your other fics, but this? this is the piece that will stay with me forever. this fic has been a mix between hushed laughs as my family sleeps and quietened sobs as the words on the screen go blurry. you have a gift for writing, please never stop, because this gift should be shared with as many people as it can. thank you for this fic, now I gotta sleep or tomorrow is gonna be hell, but @thislifewelive , you nailed it with this one
