If you tell me to, I can do anything!

Summary:

Seam is forced to imprison Jevil.

Notes:

This is experimental and translated from the original one I wrote in portuguese ok

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Seam doesn't know why Jevil is holding their hands, but if it helps the jester accept his fate, then it’s fine.

Jevil stands with his back to the cells, brushing his fingers against Seam’s and wearing a wide grin. The lighting in the narrow, neglected corridor does the imp no favors, casting half his face in shadow—yet the gleam of his eyes pierces through.

"You never wanted to do..." His voice echoes, and the walls listen. "...Something insane?"

Seam doesn't answer. Just sniffs.

"You say I'm crazy, but the crazy know everything, everything! The jester speaks the truth, Seam; he humbles you. But you..."

The light beside Jevil burns out; the only remaining illumination comes from behind him. His face is now completely obscured.

"You know humility! You don't need to change, change! You need to be free."

He squeezes Seam’s paws tightly.

"We’re going to be free."

Seam says nothing. Jevil takes a step back.

"If you tell me to, if you command me to, if you ask me to, I can do anything!"

Jevil takes a step back.

"Just like our tricks, tricks. Your tricks."

Jevil takes a step back.

"They don't know; they think they're imprisoning my body!"

Jevil takes a step back.

"My mind, Seam—my mind is setting me free. Because nothing matters."

Jevil takes a step back.

"And you only live—you’re only free—when you discover this, this! Free your mind."

Jevil takes a step back.

"Come outside."

Jevil steps into the cell.

Seam does not. From the outside, Seam closes the door and locks it. Taking a deep breath, they look at Jevil with their head held high.

"Whatever you say, my fellow."

Turning away, they begin to drag themself toward the staircase. Then—perhaps out of pity? Or remorse?—they look back one last time.

"I’ll miss you."

"Miss me? Or will you miss who you could have been today?"

"But Jevil," Seam offers a faint smile, "I don't need to change!"

Notes:

Kudos and comments are appreciated :-)

Edit: I fixed Seam's pronouns by the end!! I must have confused them with Jevil because the original in portuguese doesn't use pronouns for Seam at all, only their name. I'm so sorry for that!!!
