Art
If you haven't yet seen the incredible art that KatieTaylor made to accompany this story as part of the Winter Falcon Big Bang, treat yourself and check it out now, it's spectacular!
Playlists
I've created two playlists to accompany this fic. The first includes all the Billie Holiday songs referenced in the story, as well as a few other of my favorites that fit with the narrative. The second includes all the non-Billie Holiday songs referenced plus many many more I listened to while writing.
Resources
Here some of the resources I've found most helpful in researching this fic! This is far from a complete list; if you have any resources you'd like to share, feel free to link them in the comments to this chapter.
Billie, a documentary about the life and music of Billie Holiday; you can watch the full doc on Amazon Prime.
Dancing with the Devil, a documentary about Demi Lovato's overdose and recovery; you can watch the full doc on YouTube.
Nicque Marina's videos on the US Military; her whole channel is excellent. (Thanks to T for this recommendation!)
Chasing the Scream: The First and Last Days of the War on Drugs by Johann Hari; you can find the book at your local library and browse interviews and other resources on the Chasing the Scream website.
Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opioid Epidemic by Sam Quinones; you can find the book at your local library and get a bit of information on the author's website.
By far the most valuable resource were the people who chose to share their insights and experiences with me as I wrote this story. If you're one of those people and you're reading this, know that I am more grateful than I can say.
