Summary
Wings are a symbol of ambition, of power, of respect.
They are not something that can be taken from the universe by force, they must be given. They are given to only the most capable, to the worthy.
And Techno just woke up with wings.
OR
AU where wings are a sign of being blessed by the gods or something along those lines. The royal family are the only ones to ever have wings, but the universe decides to have a bit of fun, and gives Techno some.
This causes some issues, considering the fact the royal family hears of Techno's new wings, and then deems him to be family. Even if Techno doesn't think the same.

Tommy wants to laugh. How far has he fallen in order to be talked down by a hero? A hero who had hated his guts less than two months ago at that. He stares upon the grey city, a place that could never be his home, and sighs. “I’m not going to jump.”
“Then step away.”
Tommy doesn’t move.

Summary
(Yes the title is from sofia the first, yes I'm laughing at it, I find it funny-)
In which Phil has created the Antarctic Empire from the ground up and takes in Techno and Wilbur along the way, and raises them while also ruling his kingdom. Tommy, sixteen, lives with Tubbo in an orphanage, the two of them running around in the cold streets of their town.
After a hectic day of getting separated from Tubbo, getting into a few fights, and ending up in an entirely new town, he comes across Phil, and saves him from an assassination attempt by smashing a plate over someone's head.
So then both Techno and Wilbur decide to see who this kid is, and Tommy sure is endearing, in the way that the first time they spy on him, he starts a fight in an alleyway over a bag of cookies.
(and then Tommy basically gets kidnapped into the royal family, but like, legally, y’know?)

Niki giggled, “Let’s start with the basics. Where are you from?”
Tommy frowned thoughtfully. “I’m from nowhere.” He decided. “I come from a place that is overwhelmingly different from this land.”

Or: After dying at the hands of Dream in prison, Tommy is transported to a very different universe. Forced to go on an adventure with his friends to stop a war, Tommy has to eventually choose between staying in this new life he's built for himself, or going home.

"Alright!" Tommy exclaims cheerfully. He looks at Techno and pauses. "Um, what do brothers do?"
Techno shrugs. "Lots of things. We argue quite a bit, we watch TV together, we listen to music together. Oh," he snaps his fingers as an idea forms, "we can eat together. Me and Wilbur have dinner together every other day to catch up.
"Oh, I don't eat food," Tommy says. "But we can watch TV together, that sounds—"
Baffled, Techno stops him. "What do you mean you don't eat food?"
"I make my own food," Tommy says it like it's obvious. "I'm a plant origin, remember?"
