"What?" Buck stops short, face scrunching in confusion. "No, I had a dream about Ravi, you know, my work partner?"Or: Buck projects his feelings for Eddie onto Ravi while Eddie is gone, Ravi’s into it, and boy howdy does Eddie have feelings about that!! In Buck’s defense, Ravi is very hot and competent.

"Well, Big Bear awaits!" Eddie says, trying to grab the cooler from Buck.
"I got it," Buck snorts. "Let's go."
And yeah, Eddie's nervous. Chris is at a sleepaway camp in the total opposite direction of Big Bear, and now he's putting more distance between himself and his kid. After the Texas debacle, he swore he'd never be away from him again, though he knew it was unrealistic. He's growing up—he's going to be an adult and have a life—so Buck had convinced him that a road trip was in order.
Or: Buck and Eddie go on a road trip to Big Bear, get a cabin with one bed, and go skinny dipping.

When Chris leaves for Texas, Buck mourns. He mourns for a kid that isn't his but almost feels like it anyway. He mourns with Eddie, sometimes just as hard, but he keeps a stiff upper lip because that's what Eddie needs from him. If Eddie's crying or haunting his own empty home, then Buck's eyes are dry and he's pulling Eddie out to do something elsewhere. Just to get him out of the house and out of his head.
When Eddie admits he's moving to Texas for Christopher, Buck mourns but he isn't surprised—not really. So Buck throws himself into helping because that's what Eddie needs from him. He gives up his loft, and he moves into that haunted house at 4995 South Bedford Street. His things stay in plastic and boxes, probably will until the lease is up and Buck can give the house to the next drifting soul that finds themselves in the City of Angels.
The morning Eddie leaves, Buck mourns again.
Or: Eddie kisses Buck before he leaves for Texas. Or maybe he doesn't? So, Buck goes to Texas to prove everything is fine between them. They're bros!

They're six hours in. Six hours into the ten—though it's definitely been elongated by Eddie's frequent need to stop to rest his "wing" and check on Buck, go to the bathroom, buy more snacks and coffee, make sure the coolant levels in the car are still good.
They've checked in on each other, of course. Maybe an annoying amount. And Eddie's more than once snaked a hand over to put it somewhere on Buck's body, just for proof of life.
So, there they are, six hours (more like eight?) into this drive, and Buck's soft groans are starting to get louder. He's not saying anything. Because neither of them have really said anything.
Eddie knows they kidnapped Buck because they wanted to replace their son. Buck knows Eddie escaped the hospital in someone else's clothes. Everything else is just details the other doesn't need to know. Or maybe is too scared to ask about.
Eddie wants to know. He does. He wants to ask.
Or: Buck can't keep going in the car. They have to stop. And they have to talk.

"Can I tell you something?" Buck slurs drunkenly, leaning into Eddie's space on the couch.
This is not an unusual position for them to be in, attached at the hip after Buck got over his weird pissing contest that first shift. But they're both so drunk that personal space doesn't exist.
"Sure, Buck," Eddie snorts.
"I just see you as one of the guys, you know. You're like a guy to me!" Buck smirks.
But something zings through him, bravery lighting him on fire. If there's one person he should be able to tell, it's Buck.
"It's because I am," Eddie tells him, trying to speak normally.
"Huh?" Buck squints at him. "No, you're a lesbian."
Eddie purses his lips, shakes his head. "Nope. I'm a man, Buck."
Buck sits with this for a minute, just mulling it over in his fuzzy brain. "Wait," he finally says. "You're…trans?"
Eddie nods again, unsure exactly how Buck is taking this. But the anxiety melts immediately when Buck breaks out into a huge, sunshine grin.
Or: Eddie gets top surgery and Buck helps him through it. Too bad Buck has a boyfriend.
