He especially doesn’t want to think about his skin. How he felt. Warm. His stomach churns at the mere mention of Mercutio. A disgusting, disgraceful creature. One that he had held dear until the very end.

    The aftermath of a canon divergent act 3 scene 1 in which Tybalt is stabbed to death and Romeo is fatally shot, bleeding out in secret over the course of one night. In short, an alternate ending loosely based on the 1996 film.

As they (and their friends) (and their enemies) survive a class on global cultures, both cousins are forced to grapple with their own pride, their own ignorance, the consequences of their actions, and (god help them) other peoples' feelings.

In truth, there is little dignity and civility left in the feud that has plagued Verona for the longest time – so long, in fact, that nobody seems to be able to remember what caused this terrible conflict in the first place. Pettiness, it seems, is now the driving factor of the ongoing fight between the houses.
    The prince’s decree may have created a temporary peace, but when Romeo and Juliet fall in love, even that tentative truce is in danger of falling apart. Somehow, Tybalt has to navigate his feelings for Juliet with not being throttled by Lord Capulet or punching Romeo on first sight while Mercutio works out some interpersonal issues. And then there’s Paris’ proposal to consider…

    I was told not to write this, and I didn't listen out of hatred and spite, so enjoy this wonderful piece of art where I put the star-crossed lovers in a modern English secondary school and give out a happy ending, then add in polyamory. (shout out to my teacher who 'inspired' me)

    This is going to roughly follow the original plot, but stuff will obviously change, and I'm writing a second arc with Paris after my original take on the story....

    Shakespeare would be proud, he told me himself.
