He still remembered the sound of Aleksandr’s breath catching in his throat between saying Charlie’s name and a Russian swear. He felt Aleksandr’s nails sometimes — in his hair, or digging into his shoulders. They used to tremble in those moments, pulled between a gnawing desperation to be loved and the fear of being rejected for adoring someone so thoroughly. Other times, it was the dull pain of teeth sinking into his thigh and fingers in his mouth to muffle the sounds that could’ve killed them then. That would have had them evicted by morning, eyes watching with disgust as two men shuffled shamefully through downtown.
Those fears felt so small now, along with every other thing that had kept them awake at night. The gaps were filled with that dull ache – the longing to feel him again.

Before the world was new, it ended. Fables tell of two lovers, the last survivors of the apocalypse. The Lady fell first, bitten by an Infected in order to protect her lover. Now, she sleeps, eternally, hidden from the new world and waiting for the time when she can wake and claim it as her own, as promised by the gods. The Lord then fell. First, to despair, as he lost his true love, then, to the Infected, having given up to join his lover in death. Now, as the First Slime, he waits, guarding his sleeping beloved as he lets his Slimes into the world, hoping to one day find the one to wake his love so they can take their rightful places as rulers, once and for all.

im sure no one expects to see supposably dead children standing in the middle of spawn on a random day, as if they had never died at all- but this is quesadilla island we are talking about.
The Federation took in the poor eggs when they died, when their parents proved they werent viewed as worthy of life. Now, after so many months of training, they are set back onto the island. On a mission, some might say.
