After Tommyinnit dies in prison, he spends several months in Limbo, and gets some much needed therapy from the reformed dead members of the Smp. This means that he is not expecting it when Dream tries to bring him back, and even more not expecting it when Dream accidentally brings the other three back with him. Now with the other ghosts stuck in Tommy’s head and able to posses his body, Tommy needs to figure out how to navigate life with his ghostly companions, and maybe establish normal mental health on the way!

He stared at him. Even in a realm with glass as pavement and a never-ending red glow, whatever Techno had just said was much weirder.
"Dante's Inferno? The classic? You've never read it?"
Tommy simply blinked at him.
“Forget I asked,” Techno sighed. “It states that Phlegethon is there to punish. How much you’ve sinned and committed violence is how deep you’d have to stand.”
The other edged further away from the flaming lake. “So not the time for your swimming lessons, okay.”
“Shut up.”
Tommy didn’t expect to be given a quest. Sure, Apollo’s flesh could be ambiguous. But not so much when your next of kin was a nine-year-old.
He also didn’t expect a Roman Praetor with way too many titles and a weird grudge against him to come as well. But maybe falling into literal hell could fix a couple of misunderstandings.

Pain.
He knew it well, felt it many times in his lifetime. Tommy knew how it sparked through his limbs, crackling through his blood as he writhed on the floor of a warehouse, or a training mat, yelling and cries around him piercing his ears.
It was like a friend to him, maybe his first. And only.
But…pain wasn’t like this.
Tommy drew himself up from where he was in a pool of his own blood, a pained whine escaping his cracked and bloody lips as he coughed. Shadows ate away at the walls of the alley around him, remnants of his power staying even after he had exhausted all of it. That much was evident in the blackness creeping up his arms, numerous scars disappearing beneath the tendrils. Fuck. He didn’t have much time. Pressing the panic button under his suit for the sixth time that night, he drew his bloodied fists up in front of him, gritting his teeth. Just a bit more… then Wilbur will come. He always does. He’ll save Tommy, he won’t leave him again.

“Alright, gonna be completely honest, I just lost my last job, and have to pay rent somehow,” Tommy paused, thinking, “Although I suppose it's maybe because when I was a kid I wanted to be a hero.”
