A "reaction fic" to satisfy my personal twisted tastes, stripping away all of Klein's disguises: Klein = Sherlock = Gehrman = Dwayne = Merlin (?) = The Fool. All disguises stripped! Merlin has a question mark because he ran into Amon.

Setting: Post-ending, Klein is sleeping, and Amon has just returned from studying abroad. This fic's CP is MonKlein. Most of it follows the plot, but the romance line is original! Although I don't even know how much romance there will be at this point, and it's pretty plastic, it really is MonKlein—I'm writing it with CP goggles on.

After 'He' had selected, collected and hung up the souls that would later act as vessels for 'His' resurrection, 'He' sensed a problem with 'His' plan. That is why 'He' had decided to gift the Curtain not to the first, not to the second, but to the third soul to be released, all while knowing they would not fuse. That is why 'He' had infused the item, which 'He' was holding in 'His' tentacles at this very moment, with 'His' divine power. The puny item could barely contain this vast power of Grafting and Fooling time itself, this grandeur of Deception. With 'His' authority over certain concepts and 'His' will now imbuded in this lowly item, 'He' would let it go to fulfill its purpose.
All that remained now, was to wait and see where this little arrangement of 'His' would lead. Perhaps, thanks to the divine authority and a tiny bit of 'His' awarness in that item, 'He' would awaken prematurely. Perhaps not. In the grand scheme of all 'His' contigency plans, it mattered little. If it fails, then so be it. At the least, it will be a spectacle to watch and entertain 'Himself' with.

“Well, isn’t that something…” The gentleman spoke, his voice projecting into the room as if standing there properly beside Klein. He then gently knocked a knuckle on the glass.
Relief poured over Klein as the barrier had remained present between them. The hair on the back of his neck and the constricting feeling in his chest remained. This object, no, the being within it, brought on a mild sense of nausea.
“Who are you?”
Instinctively, Klein’s hand moved to the revolver in his holster, but he did not dare draw it yet. Needless provocation could make an enemy where there was none. Yet, with the level of danger unknown, he would not remain entirely defenseless.
“Wandering magician, Merlin Hermes, at your service!” The gentleman—magician—lowered his hat and gave a dramatic bow, matching the jovial spirit of his voice. He projected his words without the need for shouting, maintaining a calm and airy balance that continued to walk the tightrope of uncanny.
“Merlin?” Klein supposed that Merlin was a very… fitting name for a magician.
