There it was, the vicious fleeting sting when the needle punctured his skin and right into his vein. His unconscious counter was to squeeze his wife’s smaller hand hard with his. It was always harder than intended. She would never let that on; her face would still be soft every single time. Her dark eyes would be fixated on him and only him as an almost undetectable flicker would pass to indicate the momentary discomfort.

That finally gets Eddie to actually look at him, chuckling as a real smile stretches across his face.
“I know you do,” he responds with a twinkle in his eyes. They sit there for a second, and it's almost like nothing's changed. They're looking at each other, smiling, almost communicating through just a look like they used to. It only lasts a moment, though, before Eddie turns back to carefully studying the plate before him.

She clutched her phone as she made her way back to the college, she wasn’t needed here now, her job was done, she protected her omega, and he got home safe, her chest puffed up as she walked, she was oozing proud alpha right now, and she didn’t care, she was proud, she helped her omega get home, be it indirectly, but she still helped!
