With criminals dying en masse, the NPA calls in the world-famous detective L to help stop a mysterious serial killer known as Kira. But, there's just one little snag. L already knows who Kira is- himself. However, when L realizes there may be another Death Note out there somewhere, and that someone else is pulling the strings, he accepts the case, hoping to stop the other Kira and hide his little secret.
But when he finally comes into contact with the other Kira, he suddenly has to choose between leaving him for dead or teaming up with him to remake the world.

And even after he has gone to extreme lengths to prove that there is no way he could be Kira, L still doubts him. Because L just KNOWS Light Yagami is Kira. The only way for L to be assured of Light's innocence or guilt is to become handcuffed to him. And no matter how long it takes, L will get a confession. No matter what he has to do, he will find out the truth. And Light will do anything to save his own life, to convince L that he isn't Kira. Even at the cost of his own sanity. This is all just a game, but a game that could be deadly.
