Summary
It's roughly 1500 years later when Merlin finally, finally, is allowed to interfere with the wizarding world.
He goes to Hogwarts and acts as a history teacher—finally able to teach proper history, things that are accurate.
Of course, Harry Potter is going to Hogwarts, and he can't ever stay out of trouble.

Soon, another mouth covered his, Merlin closed his eyes, slowly savoring the kiss, infused with the mist of Hogwarts at midnight, the sweet aroma of butterbeer from Hogsmeade, and the passion of sweat and adrenaline from the Quidditch pitch.
"Predecessor," the Gryffindor head—well, predecessor—let go of his mouth and playfully bit Merlin's earlobe, "I've graduated, you're getting old and confused, professor." He deliberately emphasized the word 'old.'
"Prat." Merlin pulled away until he could look Arthur fully in the face, "thought you weren't coming tonight. Big star."

Ten years ago, Arthur made the worst mistake of his life: leaving Merlin behind. He's regretted it almost every day since, but accepted long ago that the damage was done. Though he fantasized about what might happen if they met again, he felt certain that Merlin would never forgive him for the hurt he had caused.
However, while back in Wales for a legal conference to represent Pendragon Law, he runs into Merlin, who, by some miracle, doesn't seem to hate his guts as he should. They fall back into each other's lives as if no time has passed, and Arthur can't help but wonder if this is his chance to fix things.
