Thousands of years ago, the shire was burnt to the ground in a vicious attack, leaving it's people thieves and wanderers. When Thorin Oakenshield, the lazy regent king of Erebor, catches one such thief trying to steal the Arkenstone, he seizes the opportunity for a distraction from his royal duties and offers the burglar a deal: steal one fourteenth of the wealth in the mountain by the end of the year or be executed for his crimes.

On his way home from a short journey, Beorn finds the Elvenking in a dire situation. He must get him home before it's too late and Thranduil dies. Kilometers away, in the deep of the forest, a search party has started after a mission went wrong and King Thranduil has been taken. The commanders of Greenwood don't know how much time their King has before the poisoned blade they believe Tharnduil has been hurt with will take effect and what exactly are the consequences of said poison, for they are sure their goal was not to kill the King.

The Company of Thorin Oakenshield continues their perilous journey eastward, accompanied by El’úvian, an elf whose fate is now bound to theirs. Having left the safety of Beorn’s hall, they venture into the dark and treacherous depths of Mirkwood. The forest tests their endurance with illusions, hunger, and despair, until they are captured by the Woodland Elves and brought before their king, Thranduil. Tensions rise between Thorin and the Elvenking, while El’úvian herself struggles with the weight of being among her kin yet not truly belonging, her sharp exchanges with Thranduil leaving their bond strained.
Through wit and daring, the Company escapes in barrels down the Forest River, finally reaching the Lake-town of Esgaroth. Though weary, they are welcomed by the townsfolk, who place their hopes in Thorin’s quest to reclaim Erebor. It is here that El’úvian’s presence grows more vital, as she tends to the wounded and lends quiet strength to the weary travelers. But the shadow of the dragon still looms, and the journey to the Lonely Mountain is far from over.

Summary
My first venture into Tolkien fan-fiction, and I have no idea what this is about currently. If you've read any of my other work, think that, but even less sure what's going to happen! There are likely to be edits as this develops, sometimes substantial ones. I'm also doing a crash course in Tolkien lore; I wrote my dissertation on his work, but that was many years ago, and I've only just reread the Hobbit. Not going to lie, it was watching 'The Rings of Power' that made me revisit the books, and I'm not particularly a fan of the TV series. Loved Peter Jackson's films though, I sobbed all the way through the opening scenes of Fellowship, just because I felt like I was actually in Middle-earth.
Anyway, let's see how this goes ...

She never predicted that her daughter would be looked after by anyone other than a human from Earth though. It turned out though that her daughter's protector is more than up to the task and has power in spades to ensure her well being.
