“The Mercury Ball is one of the best chances Alphas, Betas, and Omegas have at finding their mate. It is said that those who meet their partners during the ball will have happier lives. Mum and Mamma met at the Mercury Ball, and it’s where King Freddie and Queen John met!”
That got Ames’ attention. He loved hearing stories about King Freddie and Queen John, as did all the children.
King Freddie was a wise and strong ruler, and Queen John was a kind and compassionate helpmeet. Together, they ensured that their kingdom and people were well looked after, from the least servants to the most important nobles.

While standing on my tiptoes, I was able to slide my entire arm into the book. Then I started to insert my shoulder, still without any results. "See, Brian? I told you it was completely harmless." I said to him, but he didn't seem to be impressed.
I was about to pull my arm back when I felt something retaining it. Something that obviously came from inside the book. I tried to get rid of that grip in vain, until it pulled me forward, knocking me off my balance and therefore throwing me headfirst into the lights of the grimoire.
I heard the boys screaming my name in horror. The last thing I distinguished before I blacked out was a panicked "ROGER WHAT DID YOU DO?" from Freddie.
