The Long Walkers went in knowing that the other boys would have to die for them to win—for them to live. But seeing that is different. Seeing the guy who’s been walking with you for hours start to struggle doesn’t feel like a good thing.
Slight canon divergence where the Long Walkers team up. After Curley, they don’t want to see anyone else die. And they aren’t thinking of the consequences of refusing to thin the herd—if they can help, goddamn it, they will.
You can bandage a cut. You can help someone walk off a cramp. You can share food. But when Scramm gets sick-- well, what the hell can they do other than make him comfortable? And that prick Barkovitch makes a good point, although it’s almost worse coming from him than the major-- if they keep saving each other’s asses… when will the walk end?
And even if they could walk forever, none of them know how to save Scramm. So they either have to let him go… or they have to stop the Walk.-

Summary
Being the only human in attendance at a support group for vampires is tough. Being a vampire's older brother and borderline familiar has a sharp learning curve. Helping out-- and crushing on-- the incredibly headstrong and bloodthirsty Frank Iero while he searches for purpose in 'lost music' is borderline laughable.
Gerard Way is determined to do it all with grace.
He'll tack on a few more responsibilities-- playing matchmaker, planning this week's Paint and Sip for the local vampires, squeezing in a date somewhere, somehow. It's smooth sailing until Frank decides to track down the infamous Eyeball demos, studio sessions recorded in a basement, thought to be destroyed in a tragic fire some twenty years ago.
Gerard wants to help Frank, Mikey does not, and Ray can't understand the sudden rift driving apart his favorite people.
There's a lot more to these vampires than blood and fangs. In one short lifetime, can Gerard be enough for them all?
