Everything about him always felt like water.
He supposed that everybody who got to the level he was at, a Hashira, should feel like their breathing style. Should have practiced it so much that they felt a part of it. Should have embraced the life of this, the life of a Demon Slayer, and for him, the life of water.
Yet water was always different.
He tried as hard as he could, every day, to keep the surface calm.
The harsh winds of Shinazugawa could whip the surface, harsh words, glares, scoffs, cold shoulders and more, but the surface of his calm would not alter.
The pokes from Iguro, the snide comments, eye rolls, dark looks and more could try to create ripples, but no.
Tomioka Giyuu did not feel a thing.

In the Taishou era, Tomioka Giyuu reunited with the Kamados on Mount Natagumo, and was put on trial at an expedited Hashira meeting.
Then, abruptly, they were thrown into each other's bodies. Modern-day Giyuu stood in the middle of the Hashira meeting and. Froze. Said nothing. And nobody noticed.

Tanjiro doesn't descend the mountain that fateful day, but Nezuko does go out looking for herbs. Nezuko loses most of her family in one fell swoop, vows to turn her brother back to normal, and kill the demon behind it all.
Coupled with a one-armed Water Pillar, a two year heads-up on Muzan's activity, and the inherent melodrama of a 12 year old girl, the demons simply won't know what hit 'em til it's too late.

He refused payment every time.He's drawn a girl's fluffy, grouchy cat, a well loved shoe, and too many portraits to count.
So what happens when some of the hashira find him at his little cafe, drawing away?

The chains on his wrist felt heavier each second that the clock ticked, the stone he was laying on starting to become comfortable. Eyelids closing momentarily before he was forced to open them as something started to tickle his nose.
“For how long have you done this?”
A tiny voice asked, it’s tone cheerful to say the slightest.
The butterfly danced around his face, before resting on the bridge of his nose.
“Aren’t you tired?”
It asked again as the butterfly batted it’s wings a bit.
He didn’t answer it.
His throat wouldn’t allow him so.
“Did it happen again?”
Yes, he wanted to say.
He thought the cycle would end this time- he always thought that- but it never did.
“You are needed, do not forget that Tomioka Giyuu.”
You told me that countless times before-
“You are special.”
-but I still don’t see it how.
“You are an enigma to the Master so therefore you shall be preserved.”

He wanted to shout.

Synopsis:
Giyuu had no idea if it was his place to make such an offer, but the Uzuis had been trying for a pup for so long that their hope had begun to fade. It wasn't as if Giyuu himself was getting any younger, or had a pack of his own to start a family with. So if his body could help bring them the happiness they'd been longing for, then perhaps it was worth the risk. He just hadn't expected his quiet act of kindness to change all their lives so completely.
Aka:
The author had a brain worm because it's canon that Giyuu was one of the first people to hold the Uzui's baby and thought, "What if he had the baby instead?"...and it all spiraled from there.

The world of demons is an unfortunate one. Some people remain completely oblivious to their existence while others have their lives completely destroyed from the demons.
The world is not gray.
As many years has passed after the creation of the first demon, more of his kin cause many to grief and suffer.
That was why the Demon Corps Organization was created. To protect others to face the same pain others had been through with the full awareness of their sacrifice to others.
There are many ranks within the Organization. With the highest of the ranks called a Hashira. They are swordsman with exceptional skills and strengths that out rank all other demon slayers.
There are two simple rules in the Corp.
First of all, you must not give mercy towards a demon.
Second, you may not draw your sword against another Demon slayer unless you were training.
Breaking both rules is considered treason within the Corp itself.
There is someone who doesn’t deserve to stand on the same level as them.
Someone who broke the simple rules of the Demon Slayer Corps and the law of alternate universes.
His name, was Giyuu Tomioka.

The sound of Rengoku Kyojurou falling was something that Giyuu would never forget. Even as he fought Upper Rank Three, he was still horribly aware of the body by the train tracks, unmoving and shrouded in a blood stained haori. How could a spirit as strong and bright as the irrepressible flame hashira ever be extinguished?
(Or, Giyuu arrives in time to save the man who has occupied the thoughts of all his days and nights ever since their first mission together two years prior. And although the road to recovery won't be easy for Kyojurou, at least he won't be alone.)
