His face is purplish from the cold, while Louis watches him out of the corner of his eye. He looks so pitiful that Louis struggles to keep his distance. He should have listened to him; part of him knows it. The roads of Auvergne are unfamiliar and poorly maintained, winding back on themselves just as the forest does. Louis knows he’s taking the wrong route; he knows their hotel is only getting farther away with every passing minute, but he refuses to admit he’s wrong.
“Lou,” Lestat murmurs, and Louis responds by banging his palms against the steering wheel once more. His skin is scraped raw from the effort, but he swallows that groan of pain.
“We’re not lost,” he insists then, contemptuously, without deigning to look at him.

Summary
He doesn't really want to fuck right now, despite what his body is signaling. The prospect honestly makes him feel a little ill. Yet he would do anything to keep Louis here another five minutes, do anything just to keep feeling his hands on his skin. Maybe afterwards, if Lestat pleases him, he'll be held, kissed, and that gaping void will fill just the tiniest bit, the loneliness will become bearable for a little while.
A run-in with the local coven and a disagreement with his mother leaves Lestat in a bad place. He's surprised at who comes looking for him.

Vile. He can’t believe he’d spoken to the love of his life like that. Even when he’d only known Armand as the gremlin...there was no excuse to throw his past in his face like that. It had nothing to do with what he’d been angry about. Calling him a rent boy because he’d suspected him of lying about his identity wasn’t journalism. Casually throwing around the names given to him by his abusers wasn’t journalism. That was cruelty.

“Quiet, Amadeo,” Marius says, and that gives Daniel one hell of a second wind.
“His name,” he says, because those will probably be his last words, and this seems like a worthy choice, “is not Amadeo. You asshole.”
And he spits on Marius, for good measure. Except he’s really banged up and weak, and it doesn’t even reach the guy’s shiny fucking shoes. Frankly, most of it lands on Daniel’s own lap. Oh well. He tried. Hopefully, when Armand tells the story — and he will live to tell it — he’ll make it more badass. He’s good at that: manipulating the narrative. He’ll tell Daniel’s story well.
Or: the working title of this fic was "Armand snuffs Marius hell yeah" -- bon apple tea, lads.
