Summary
Grace had survived space.
He'd survived The Hail Mary project, an alien planet, becoming friends with an alien from said planet, fished Simon up from a blood ocean, and the small matter of saving the world. After all that, settling down on Erid should have been the easy part.
And for a while, it was.
Rocky was home. Erid was peaceful. Simon was healing. Grace had a routine, a job, a quiet house, and something dangerously close to happiness.
Then Simon started staring at him.
Not normal staring.
The kind of staring that makes Grace wonder if he's done something wrong. If Simon is angry with him. If he's accidentally offended him. Or if he's about to become the first human casualty on Erid. The problem is that Grace has grown head over heels for Simon, and does not want to ruin anything between them.
Which makes it especially unfortunate that Simon has recently started acting like the world's politest horror movie villain.
Grace had survived space.
Surely he can survive one weird roommate.

Most of the people who were left had been Betas, but when one had come to age and had presented as an Omega, there had been a celebration.
It was the only time Father allowed frivolous usage of food and water.
The Omega would be basically worshiped for being blessed by The Tree, for having it's gift of fertility. They would sing and dance and feast and drink all through the evening.
Then, the sound of a trumpet would cut sharply through the celebration, and all would be silent and still. The residents of Eden would disperse and return to their homes, leaving the poor Omega vulnerable and defenseless.

When Simon finds himself discharged from the Navy due to injury, he expects to go back to the port town he'd been born in and live quietly off his war earnings. What he gets is his unknown grandfather deciding to go and die and fuck things up for Simon as much as possible, because why not?
Now saddled with a surprise title and inheritance - along with the stipulation of marriage to gain access to it - Simon finds himself led to one Lord Grace, the very broke son of Simon's mother's closest friend. Simon hopes to make the most of the odd situation, even if it means marrying a stranger and moving to a tower house looming on a misty hill. Grace, at least, seems to appreciate all the fog, and Simon is more than happy to play the role of supportive husband to his brilliant new spouse. That way, at least he knows the money will go to a good cause.
But of course, the more they move their new house around, the more it becomes clear that there's not just his mother's past to unravel. There is another secret that has bled into the very walls of Essem Castle, and it's damned hungry for fresh blood.

Ryland had just begun his toast. He was talking about how happy they'd been for the past five years and how he hoped that would hold true for their next fifty years together. He had raised his glass and Tom had begun to do the same with his own, his eyes drifting toward the bottom of the glass where the gold of the ring was catching the light of the candles around the room. Suddenly, there was a blur of motion and a stranger stood next to Tom, snatching his champagne glass out of his hand. He tossed the glass to the floor, alcohol spilling and engagement ring bouncing away to who knows where. Ryland looked on in horror and stared at the man who looked down at Tom and said, "He put something in your drink! He's trying to poison you, Tommy!" turning to Ryland he said, "That is a low blow, even for you, Six! You can't be trying to kill our baby brother!"
