Summary
The universe is a fragile, splintered thing, prone to branching off this and that way at the flap of a butterfly's wing. In one version of events, the Hiss invades the Federal Bureau of Control. In another, a man invents time travel and breaks time itself. In a third - or is it the first? - there's a lake that's an ocean.
In this version of reality, something different took the opportunity granted elsewhere to the Hiss. It caused a markedly divergent reaction from the Oldest House. It's quite the mess to clean up.
Unfortunately, this reality also has a lake.
