    Etho has spent most of his life keeping people at arm’s length, convinced it’s easier to stay untouched than risk being overwhelmed. But when there are people who come along and make him feel seen, suddenly the careful distance he’s mastered starts to crack.

    Want becomes need, and need becomes something he can’t ignore, no matter how much it shakes him.

    “It’s a long story,” Etho said reluctantly. “But the short of it is that I…I used to lead a very different life.” He didn’t look at Gem or Grian as he spoke. “DominusMalus…Well, I had a hand in killing his family. Permanently. No respawns.” Wiped them all out with my own two hands and no help. “After that, he was fixated on tracking me down. I’m still not sure if he wanted to kill me or…hire me.”
    Hire was a mild way of putting it. Hire implied a level of choice in the matter.

    Doc has a lead to striking a blow at a network of hybrid hunters and traffickers. All it requires is for Etho to face a part of his past he would much rather leave behind.

    Summary

    Hermitcraft is a place of sanctuary. It's a place of acceptance and love, of healing. A place to leave your past behind surrounded by friends and family who will love you through it all. For some Hermits, that love is easier to accept than others.

    Descriptions are hard, this is basically my rambling fics that strike my fancy as I work through Hermitcraft. Mostly focused on Grian because that man is too easy to put in pain, but other hermits may have the spotlight, depending on what my muse feels like doing.
