Summary
Astarion discovers the healing power of back rubs.
He's his own person... When four simple words spoken to a vile blood merchant send Astarion into a panic spiral, Luka Morrigan (Tav) is there to comfort him. At the Last Light Inn, Astarion explores what it means to want for himself and how touch can be used for something other than coercion.
Astarion can feel Luka’s sweet round eyes searching him. He takes the barest half-step forward, brushes a stray lock of hair behind his ear, then opens his arms wide. Astarion turns to face him.
The dhampir gives a close-lipped, encouraging smile.
“Do you mind?” he asks.
Astarion thinks, swallows, then nods.
Luka closes the distance between them. He moves slowly, as if approaching a startled animal, and gently wraps his arms around Astarion’s back. He slots his chin onto Astarion’s shoulder. They’re nearly the same height—Luka is just barely shorter—and he fits… perfectly. His cheek brushes Astarion’s cheek, and his breath mists Astarion’s ear.

Summary
The Loviatar’s Blessing Scene. Only it’s Astarion who delivers Tav’s penance.
While camping in a former temple of Selûne that's been overrun by goblins, Astarion catches Luka Morrigan (Tav) sneaking away to commune with Abdirak, a disciple of the Goddess of Pain. Perhaps this dhampir from Barovia is not such a saint after all?
“Our Mistress teaches us that pain is an intimate thing,” Abdirak explains, “and in embracing her love, a deeper connection forms between minister and supplicant. Bonds tempered in the fires of pain are impossible to break.”
That is precisely what Astarion must avoid. He doesn’t want to bond with Luka, he just wants to seduce the boy. And yet, Astarion can’t deny the power he feels while clutching the whip. Is this really any different than Luka offering over his sweet, nectarine blood for Astarion’s nourishment? If this precious castle-born dhampir is so insistent on debasing himself, then is there anyone better than Astarion to show him exactly what that feels like?

In which Doru copes with parental anxiety by becoming a bat.
Everyone turns at once to look upward. High-pitched squeaking draws Ismark’s attention to a black mass zooming around the dome.
Is that a—a bat?
Ismark’s stomach sinks. “Please tell me that’s not…”
The little projectile comes hurtling toward him. Ismark drops his books and throws his hands up. A gust of wind ruffles his hair as an oddly excitable chirp pierces his ear.
“Hells,” he grunts, righting himself. “What’s going on?”
Escher gives a dry chuckle before explaining, “Your dearly beloved said he wanted to be a bat.”

It's Bite Night. Only Luka Morrigan (Tav) is a dhampir from Barovia, and he can bite back.
Also known as "In Which Astarion Tastes What a Well-Adjusted Family Looks Like and Has a Breakdown About It."
All goes quiet in the camp, the night is still.
Astarion waits for another hour, tracing his favorite patterns in the stars to be sure Luka is fully asleep. Then he makes his approach.
He finds Luka curled over on his side, head resting on hands that are folded as if in prayer. Overly moral indeed—a right proper stick-in-the-mud. In four days of traveling together, despite running into bandits and goblins and an entire caravan of refugee tieflings, the boy has never raised his voice. He shows kindness to everyone and always chooses to help others before he helps himself. It’s sickening. Helping yourself is a luxury Astarion hasn’t been allowed in centuries.
Who could’ve possibly sired such a soft creature?

She glanced back at them—grateful, though the words caught somewhere between her heart and her mouth.
“Come on then,” she said instead, already heading down the mountain. “I’m not going to wait for you.”
“Of course not,” Gale said with a smile, falling into step beside her. “That would be far too cooperative.”
