This creature was far to large to be some ordinary human. However, it was far too weak to be some sort of god. Slowly, he reached for his Leviathan Axe before moving closer. The creature was mostly comprised of a long, red serpent's tail with the upper half of a woman. Could this be a gorgon who strayed too far from her home? He narrowed his eyes as he prodded her cold tail with his axe.

His first fear was that he would be alone, perhaps having forgotten a comment about John going out with a friend that day, or visiting his mother for the weekend. But as he slowly pushed open the door of John’s bedroom, which appeared to be in the exact place he expected it would be, he heard a creak on the floorboards from the next door down, mirroring his own motions.
He locked eyes with a man who looked identical to him, with dark eyes, thick, messy hair, and deep shadows under the eyes, even more intense than they appeared in the mirror after days of little sleep. Even without the ear defenders, sunglasses, or his usual dark blue sweatshirt, it was clear he was looking into the eyes of Sherlock Holmes.
