Elphaba took a measured step toward her, then another.
A single finger tipped Glinda’s chin upward, guiding her gaze higher. Unable to hide. Unable to escape. Unable to do anything except give in.
Elphaba leaned close, her breath mingling with Glinda’s, halting just short of a kiss to whisper low. “I can tolerate many things, my sweet, but disobedience isn’t one of them.”

“I—” Elphaba paused, frowning slightly at the women. “I didn’t break in,” she said mildly, shaking her head. “I used the door.”
She held up her keys, pointing them stupidly towards the door as if the woman wasn’t familiar with how the two functioned together.
The woman huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “But why are you here?” she demanded. “It’s the middle of the night!”
“It’s eight o’clock,” Elphaba said, not really knowing why she was arguing that particular point. “Hardly the—”
“Alright!” the woman snapped, waving a dismissive hand around haphazardly. “You didn’t break in and it’s not the middle of the night. But what are you doing here?”

Summary
Shadowheart was supposed to get into the vault, steal the spear, and get back to her people. To her Dark Lady. And she was doing a proper good job of that up until a crimson devil tracked her down on behalf of the spear’s owner and demanded it back. Now her mission was in jeopardy and her life’s goal of serving her mistress was on the line because of some beautiful wall of muscle named Karlach.
A reimagined version of Shadowheart’s journey as told in the story in Baldur’s Gate 3 if she met Karlach under different, less tadpole-infused peril.
Writing this as a personal challenge to myself—I usually give in and write sex scenes within the first few chapters of my works. But not this time. I have forced myself to make them wait. So slow burn is the name of the game. Let’s see if I can manage!

Elphaba took in a shaky breath, “I… it’s not about me…”
“Ugh, but can’t it be?!” Galinda groaned in her impatient frustration, maybe letting a bit too much slip.
But she couldn’t help it. She just wanted, even for a brief fictional moment, for Elphaba to act as if their lives were intertwined. As if what happened to Galinda would happen to her, too. More than the support of a friend, but someone who shared in the responsibility. Someone who took part in the sin and had an equal share of the consequences.
Or; Elphaba helps Galinda grapple with the realities of her pregnancy and there's just like lots of gay tension and yearning
