This short story was a homework task I recieved for A-Level. This was the aim: Tell a light-hearted or comic story through a sequence of emails sent between two people who adopt very different levels of politeness. There must be a clear sense of narrative development, but you do not have to bring your story to a conclusion.

Summary
It's 2011, men are allowed to marry, and Bucky is dead.

Summary
Steve's rarely been touched in a way that didn't equate to some kind of hurt. The cold metal of a stethoscope against his frail chest or the sting of a needle drawing yet another blood sample, when he was a sickly child. The bone-shattering punches thrown by the neighborhood bullies on the playground, or by his own father at home, drunk and wild. His mother, weak and clutching at him as she grew more incoherent with the drugs as the cancer ate away at her insides. Touch was something he shied away from, something he told himself he just didn't want.
Except...he did. He just didn't know how.
Until he finds a flyer for a local "affection and intimacy services" program.
In which Steve learns how to become comfortable with touch, and there is one very good dog, and a slow-burn romance.

Summary
When Steve goes out to a bar looking for a chance to unwind, he doesn’t expect to find the most beautiful person in world there. And he doesn’t expect for that person’s kiss to feel like the missing puzzle piece in his life. And he really doesn’t expect to find himself falling head over heels for that person — for Bucky Barnes — over the next two months, watching as the rest of his life with this man stretches out in front of him.
But Bucky has secrets. Things he won’t tell. And he just wants to live his life in peace, and do what he can to give kids like him the kind of help he never had. But there are things you can’t outrun. And when his past catches up with him, Bucky will do anything to keep Steve safe from the monsters that lurk in the shadows of his life.
But Steve would do anything for him, too. And he’s not about to let Bucky slip away.

Summary
Steve watches him as time stretches heavy between them. Bucky refuses to look at him, but he can feel those eyes on him, peeling back his layers to see what he is on the inside. It’s always been that way. Steve reads Bucky like a well-loved book.
“I gotta tell you somethin’,” he finally murmurs.
Bucky can’t make himself look at Steve, and he has no words for him. So he waits.
But Steve says nothing. Instead, he slowly lifts Bucky’s right hand from where it rests on the photo album. Gently, no more than the barest brush of skin, he presses his lips to Bucky’s fingertips and sighs.
Panic burns in Bucky white-hot. “No,” he snaps, yanking his hand away. He turns to Steve, glaring, and his voice comes out strangled. “No, no. You can’t do that, Stevie.” More tears fall, bitter, and he wants so much to go back to four months ago.
Steve glares right back, fiery and hard-headed as always. “Why the hell not?”
“Because,” Bucky cries. “I’m leavin’ in the morning. I’m going off to die.”
