The damn lawsuit
If he could, he’d never in a million universes file that lawsuit. The lawsuit didn’t solve anything, actually it made things worse. He lost everybody. Even Maddie because she chose Chimney over him. Of course she would. Who in their right mind would choose him? No one. No one ever has.
All he wanted was his family back. Why couldn't they see that? Now all he has is an empty apartment. An apartment that used to float with joy, laughter, love.
Thinking of those memories actually put a smile on his face after the day he just had. They won't ever be like that again, because he ruined it just like he ruins everything. Why couldn’t he just wait it out? Just wait for Bobby to say he can come back? Instead he chose to sue the department, and Bobby.

He’s looking at Alvin And The Chipmunks on Pinterest sitting criss-cross on his bed when he feels the bed sinking in where Eddies just sat, followed by a small kiss on the top of his head.
“Whatcha doin,” Eddie said. By this time Buck is scrambling to close his laptop before Eddie can mention anything.
“Nope,” Eddie says, grabbing the laptop from his hands. “Wait, no th-” A wide smile lands on Eddie's face “Are you looking at matching costumes for halloween?!?!?!”
“Umm, yeah….. If you don't want to, we don't have to.”
Before Buck can even notice, Eddie is so close he can hear him breathing. “ What are you talking about?” Eddie says with his worried face.
A soft hand lands on Bucks Knee. Buck has always loved Eddie's soft hands, He loves the way they fit so perfectly in his.
“Of course I want to do a matching Halloween costume with you.” Eddie said.
It sounded like it flowed out of his mouth. It felt so natural.
“Really?” Buck said. He’s never had a matching Halloween costume with anyone.

Post-lawsuit
Buck's back on shift but still on the outs with the team. The flu sweeps its way through the firehouse, Bobby, Hen, Chim and Eddie had all gotten it. Buck’s honestly surprised he’s lasted this long, especially considering he’s been on clean up duty the entire time, every tissue the team had coughed or blown their nose into, every surface they’d sneezed on, had been meticulously discarded, cleaned and sanitized by Buck.
Buck wakes up and realizes that there’s no way he’s making it in today. He’d felt off, maybe even bad the last 2 days, but today he felt like absolute shit on a cracker. Buck calls Bobby and tries to tell him that he’s too sick to come in but Bobby won’t hear of it. Bobby tells Buck to get his shit together and tells him that he can either come in to shift today or be written up for going AWOL and be fired.--------------------------------------------------------------------------
