The notes on the mage had said he was loyal. His duel against Osteon had said he was strong. His fight against the bandits had said that he was willing to do what it takes. The Queen had thought that loyalty was for her. That the strength was found in dedication and not desperation. That the destruction of the bandits was devotion to the crown instead of the people around him. Thats why she awarded him Stalwart. Thats why she thanked him for his efforts. She had thought, rather naively, that one of the few volunteers in the room had done so for her.
A cold, hard dread set in, filling her heart at the sight of Scott the Stalwart’s glare, and she came to realise as accurate that title may be, she was very, very wrong to presume its was towards the kingdom.

“I’m gonna give you to the count of 200 to run as far away as you can.”
Xeno’s eyes dart from Stanley to the gun to other dark corners of the cabin. He struggles to steel himself for action as his brain yet marinates in lust. They had agreed: Xeno gets whatever mercies Stanley gives him. His pockets, laden as they are, feel far too light.
“…and then?”
“And then…” Stanley glances to the side for a moment before giving the tiniest shrug and that placid, shark-like gaze returns to Xeno, “Don’t let me catch ya.”
“I —”
“One.”
