Summary
Maybe it’s pity, the shitshow this kid has no idea he’s walking into at Nelson Road. Mannion’s a creep, Cartrick’s a cunt, molding a dressing room of mediocre-talent mini-cunts and wondering why he’s never so much as broken the top ten in all his years managing damn near every club in the greater London area.
Or maybe it is just that echo of old appreciation. The kid’s in the presence of greatness, and he knows his place, even if he’ll put on a bit of a performative strop about it.
…Or maybe it’s just that touch of pink in pretty cheekbones and a jawline a model would envy, the lip that’s gone a bit raw for the anxious abuse inflicted since Jamie fucking Tartt walked into the club.
“What do you want, Jamie Tartt?”
The bag shifts on Jamie’s shoulder, he’s still holding the fucking bag. He scuffs his feet and looks up through his lashes all bashful, the little actor, and suggests, “Could have a little kickabout?” and stutters Roy’s brain to a fucking halt in its earnest innocence.
Fuck’s sake, he really is just a kid who appreciates good football.

Summary
Roy and Trent discover they have two unexpected things in common: they're both madly in love (not with each other), and their feelings are totally, completely, never-gonna-happen unrequited (obviously.) With both objects of their respective affections on the wrong side of an ocean, they may as well do something (each other) about it.

Summary
Sometimes it feels like the universe gave him Jamie. A mirror into his younger idiot self. A chance to learn some hard lessons and be a better person, usually, for them, a chance to pass on some hard-won wisdom and set Jamie up, hopefully, for avoiding some of Roy’s old mistakes.
A budding generational talent to prop up Roy’s first season as manager, the glue that binds the team together, and he’s spoiled for it and taking still more because Christ, how is he supposed to turn away what Jamie’s so eager to offer?
He’s a brute, the worst sort of sleaze in professional sports, but it’s just so fucking easy.

Summary
It’s familiar, parking himself a few seats down from a grumpy Roy and staring out over an empty pitch while he waits him out. It’s just different enough to make him cautious, this isn’t coach and captain, gaffer and skipper, they’re peers. They’re friends.
And even so, Ted has zero idea – nil idea – what to offer in this moment.
“You ever just feel fucking… stuck?” Roy finally grinds out.
“Oh boy,” Ted chirps, and settles deeper into the seat to get comfortable. A wild night in Amsterdam flashes through his mind, but even Beard, he suspects, would deem this particular problem beyond the reaches of Kenneth’s special brew.

I couldn't figure out how to describe this beyond the tags but Indigofirebird provided the perfect summary upon finishing the final chapter:
What a devastating, fucked up love story.

Summary
Roy Kent agrees to one final match, one short speech and absolutely no emotional bullshit.
Then Jamie Tartt arrives at Stamford Bridge carrying the Chelsea shirt Roy thought he had lost twenty years ago, along with rather too much knowledge about the man Roy used to be.
Roy can handle fifteen minutes of football, forty thousand people chanting his name and an entire stadium discussing his legacy. Jamie looking at him like he still matters is a different fucking problem.
or Roy Kent has spent years teaching Jamie Tartt how to become a better footballer. Unfortunately, Jamie has spent even longer being in love with him.

Summary
They're steadily climbing the table of the Prem, Jamie's playing the best football of his life, things would be GREAT, except Roy won't stop putting his hands on him and his dad's gonna start drinking again any minute now. So if Jamie's a little tense, it's not his fault.

Summary
"Roy?" Beard bends at the waist, leaning forward as far as he can and twisting around to peer at Roy's face instead of just taking a step like a normal person. "Next match you're going to hack off all their left feet with a rusty bread knife and feed them to... whom?"
"Fuck," Roy says, still shooting daggers in Jamie's direction. Jamie glances around the room, hoping for a clue, but the rest of the team look just as confused as he is.
Beard stays bent up all weird, because he's that sort of nutter. "What's up?"
Roy shakes his head, scowling. "Nothing. Just realised I'm in fucking love with Tartt. Christ, I am not in the fucking mood for this shit."

Summary
Roy folds his arms, glaring. "All right, what the fuck is going on here? Why have you suddenly decided to fancy me?"
"I haven't suddenly decided, I've always fancied you. Just didn't know until today that you'd be up for it."
Roy reminds himself sternly that he cannot murder their star striker the day before a match. "Just because I'm interested in blokes doesn't mean I'm interested in you."
Jamie looks confused. "It doesn't? But..." He gestures at his face as if it's incontrovertible evidence, then down his body like a closing argument.
Roy cannot murder him. The media would be intolerable.

Summary
“Doesn’t it feel like you’re giving up?” he asks confrontationally when Jamie tells him the news. “Money that good, huh?”
Years, really, since he’s started a fight. He thought he’d left this version of himself far behind.
It’s only natural, then, that Jamie Tartt is the one to resurrect him.[companion piece to anything to win for the side that stays. can be read as a stand-alone]
