Summary
"Dawn, it is not a happy conclusion, but it is the only one I can believe. I believe the gods weep just as we do, incapable of preventing suffering and incapable of protecting their most precious creations. I believe the world is this harsh because this is the softest we can make it. I believe now that we, the living mortals, are the only ones capable of bestowing the gifts of comfort and kindness upon each other. That is the reason why Giratina told me the world did not need to be remade. With all the power of Arceus and its children combined, I could not stop fires from burning and ice from falling.
Perhaps you already knew this."

“I mean, I would give you the classic ‘who cares what Maylene likes,’ but the entire premise of her not liking you for being a femme is so goddamn stupid I can’t even tell you that. Maylene adores you. Maylene follows you around like a lost puppy at every conference we attend. Maylene signed up for the free makeup session just because she thought you would be the one running it.”

“It’s not fair,” they whispered, pulling your hand close. “Your life is defined by injustice, and my existence is nothing but to tell you one final time – nothing will ever be fair. Nothing can ever last.”
Your hand rests against their chest, and you can feel their heartbeat slow. You might be dying.
You’ve felt this before.

Goro, for the second time in more than three years, wanted something more than he wanted to crush Shido’s skull in with his own heel after all of Japan had bore witness to his crimes.
And that thing was yank out Yu Narukami’s eyes so he’d stop fucking ogling Joker.

Summary
Haru at least worked out the fact that Ren was grieving. And grief, she had told him, was like a ball in a box with a button. The box often shook, bouncing the ball around, and sometimes the ball would hit the button. That button released a flood of emotions. Ren didn’t know what those emotions were, but he knew they were there.
Eight years later, maybe it's time to sort them out. Maybe it's time to move on.

"He rejected me," Goro said.
“He did?” Makoto asked in fake surprise. “What’d he say?”
“I asked him to dinner tonight, and he said he couldn’t make it because it was his cat’s birthday.” Goro looked up, eyes flashing with anger. “Cat’s birthday. He couldn’t even come up with a good excuse!”
