Summary
“What’s your face doing?”
Buck makes an affronted noise, shooting Eddie a look. “My face isn’t doing anything.”
“Yes, it is.”
“No, it’s not.”
“Yes, it is.”
“Eddie. It’s not.”
“Yes, it–”
“I’m horny,” Buck blurts. Instantly, his face flushes, body going warm with humiliation. Eddie’s eyes go comically wide.
Or: Buck's really trying to keep it in his pants. Eddie's not exactly keen on letting him do so.

Summary
"I broke six fingernails trying to claw you out of the ground when the well collapsed."
"I—what?"
"Could barely talk after. Screamed my throat raw when you went down."
Eddie opens his mouth. Closes it.
"It was very much. Not funny. At the time."
Eddie’s—a little taken aback? He’d assumed Buck was upset about the reminder of the ladder truck, or the lightening, but—he’s talking about Eddie’s near death experience, not his own.
Eddie supposes Buck’s worried that trying to dig your best friend out of the earth with your bare hands is as good as a confession.
Which is fine—really, Buck, it's fine—because Eddie’s been making confessions of his own.

Summary
“I’m not usually this insane,” Eddie claimed, which was not Evan’s impression in this exact moment. “I’m usually—” he laughed, incredulous at himself, “I’m usually so fucking uptight. I eat and sleep and go to three god-awful jobs across town from each other and take care of my kid and argue with my parents and I never fucking do anything. Evan,” Eddie paused, cupping his face in his hands delicately, “I like you. This was fun, sure, but I…”
Eddie kissed him again, softer and wetter, running his tongue over the seam of Evan’s lips. Evan melted. When Eddie spoke again, he melted even further, practically a puddle at his feet. “I like you. And maybe this is just all in my head and you’re thinking I’m an absolute freak and can’t wait to get out of here but—”
“But maybe I like you, too,” Evan interjected.
Eddie smiled. Radiant. “Yeah?”
—
Alternate universe where Eddie and Shannon get divorced in the midst of his first tour. Buck is the first man Eddie picks up after realizing he's gay and he just... never puts him down again.

Summary
Evan Buckley is 26 and lives in L.A. with his parents after dropping out of the SEALs training. He’s lost and confused and lonely (his sister lives with her boyfriend and he pushed away the only friends he had). One day he gets in a serious accident where his leg is badly injured, sending him into a panic spiral. He is terrified that he will lose his leg and the firefighters on the scene think they will have to sedate him. At least until firefighter Eddie Diaz enters the scene and ends up being the only one who manages to calm him down.
Eddie is 27 and a probationary firefighter at the 118. He lives in L.A. with his 7-year-old son, Christopher and he struggles with his relationship with his parents and his lack of friends after moving from Texas.
Despite his captain's advice, he doesn’t stop looking for Buck after they drop him off at the hospital and that means he gets so much more than a friend for life.
