Summary
The driver of the jeep was a mess. He was a man, that much I was sure of, and probably pretty young, but it was hard to tell much with the bruises blooming on his face. Blood was smeared along one cheek and high on his forehead, and had dripped from his nose. His head rested against the headrest, and his eyes were closed.
Shit, what if he was dead? No way did I want to get involved in some random guy's murder.

Summary
"Hm. I noticed you here the other day. Bad week?" The man questioned, leaning against the bar. He didn't seem to know how to take a hint, but Buck didn't care all too much, so he sighed and met the stranger's eyes again.
"You could say that. If the week included the past—almost three months." Buck picked his drink up off the counter, taking a long swig in an attempt to stave off the awkwardness. His face scrunched in disgust at the taste, and he blinked rapidly in shock as he pulled it away from his mouth. Salt?
(Or, post-lawsuit, Buck gets roofied and it solves all his problems.)

Summary
Everyone knows that when you touch someone who's going to be important to you for the first time, you'll leave a mark on them. It's not just romantic love; parents and children, siblings, close friends all share marks too. At least, they do in theory. Maddie's the only person who's ever touched Buck and left anything behind.
.
It’s funny, growing up knowing your parents don’t care about you. The kind of funny that would get Evan uninvited from sleepovers, which is why he always changes into his pajamas in the bathroom. The kind of funny that he’s not allowed to ask his parents about. The kind of funny that makes Maddie look at him so sadly sometimes, when she doesn’t realize he can see her out of the corners of his eyes.- Language:

Summary
“Skydive. Kiss someone in the rain. Go on a road trip... Get into a bar fight?”
Buck groaned, snatching the paper back. “Don’t judge sixteen-year-old me. He had dreams.”
Hen leaned forward. “Oh, we’re judging. Sixteen-year-old you has handed us a gift—insight into all of your questionable teenage priorities.”
Buck crossed his arms, glaring at her. “Hey, some of it’s respectable! ‘Learn to surf?’ Solid goal. ‘Save a life?’ Pretty sure I've nailed that one.”
“Get into a bar fight, though?”
“I thought it’d make me look cool!”
Or, when Evan Buckley finds the bucket list he wrote as a teenager, he decides there’s no time like the present to complete it.

Summary
“Buck? Did you drunk dial me?”
Eddie did not envy Buck’s headache in the morning. He fought back the urge to smile at the thought of Buck, hungover and pouting with his curls in wild form on his head and his hands twisting and knotting in his favorite hoodie for the comfort the texture brought him.
“Can you come take me h-home?” Buck asked, his voice sounding so painfully young. “I don’t …feel good.”
