So Brendon convinces him to make a trip to the therapy pool after hours on his day off. There is a chair right beside the pool, close enough that Jack can walk up and remove his prosthesis and practically slide right down into the water if he wanted to.
He doesn't. He hasn't been in a pool in years.

Some of the faces are different, the procedures have altered, and he isn't the same man as the one who left. Something happened in the three months he was gone, something that has Jack Abbot avoiding him and Robby desperate to make things right.

“I’m thinking of getting back on the whole dating thing.” Jack announced, devastatingly casual – over beers, as though this wasn’t the news that Robby had been dreading for the last 3 years.
Because dating meant somebody else, and that meant less time for Robby. Which was selfish. So he couldn’t say that. Instead he said, “Yeah?” because that’s a really smooth and supportive thing to say to your widowed best friend sharing something vulnerable with you.
“Yeah.” Jack confirmed, “So I’ve made a Tinder.”
