Summary
Michael is the son of the Pirate Lords Stead Strike and The Warden and has known no other life than that of piracy and the open ocean. Inexplicably surviving drowning at sea at twelve and pulled from the water by a boy who comes to be his very best friend, William- together they go through the trials of becoming a part of the great Steadfast Fleet and earning their place on the unforgiving sea.

Summary
By 1990, Will couldn’t take the guilt any longer. He couldn’t be in that town, with these people, where everything reminded him that he made it out alive, and she didn’t. So, he did what he believed had to be done - he packed his life and ran away, leaving everything behind.
In 1998, Will starts his second year as an art teacher in a sanctuary for boys, a place that’s become almost a sanctuary to him, too. He managed to bury his past so deep that no one would ever be able to dig it out.
At least he thought so - until the new teacher turns out to be the one person he was never truly able to forget.
Or: a really angsty bylearner slow burn with a happy ending :)

Summary
“I want to explore that.”
The sentence shocks Will just as much as himself, and both of them freeze again. Mike’s mouth dries up further, if even possible, and he swallows hard to get some moisture back in his throat. His grip stays tight on Will, and Will can only, very slowly, turn his head back to somewhat look at Mike. The look on both their faces is equally mortified, and Will blinks a few times in disbelief.
“What?”
Somewhat catching his composure — and realising that there’s no turning back now — Mike stares at him and and presses on.
“Your neck. The — the sensitivity there. I — we should explore that.”
Will and Mike slip into an innocent, comfortable routine during which Will paints on Mike, and it soon turns into something more intimate than they can handle. Offering to help with the uncomfortable sensitivity of Will's neck, Mike starts to touch him there, saying they can condition Will to associate the sensation with something pleasant instead of feelings and visuals of the past.
What Mike doesn't know, however, is that the underlying reason for his sudden interest in said dynamic is just as hard to grasp as paint running through fingers.
