    His eyes widen to the size of saucers. No one has ever acknowledged this fact before to his face. Everyone treats him like he’s some invulnerable god who never falters.

    For someone to see his humanity is just…different. It’s a balm on his lonely heart, even if it’s just the shadow of a connection.

    He can’t help the chuckle that he gives her in response, although it’s wholly inappropriate, “Are you worried about me?”

    She looks away and he watches her face scrunch up like she’s in pain, “...maybe.”
