“Give me that,” Chim huffed, stealing the question from Hen and holding it up, trying not to laugh too, “have you ever been in handcuffs?” Hen and Karen cackled louder, but Buck shared an unimpressed look with Athena.
“You want us, as family,” May clarified, “to answer whether any of us have been in handcuffs, without any context?”
“Oh god, I didn’t think about that, never mind!” Hen said, stealing the question back. “Nope, we are not gonna scar poor baby May that way.”
“How many different ways can you end up in handcuffs?” Eddie asked, flushing a little when everyone looked at him.
“Several.” Athena and Buck answered together. Maddie actually did fall off her chair laughing that time.

Summary
“You don’t understand, I have to get home to my son.”
She gives him a sympathetic smile, and Eddie has to restrain himself from slamming his fists on the desk. He clenches his fists at his side instead, his chest still heaving from sprinting across the airport.
“Surely you can make an exception for this man who is serving our country,” a voice says from beside him, friendly and polite. Eddie watches a bright smile spread across the other man’s face, and he notices that he seems to be completely collected despite that fact that he was sprinting as fast as Eddie was just moments ago.
“I’m sorry, sir, there’s nothing I can do.” She looks at Eddie, a flash of pity crossing over her face. “And thank you for your service.”

“Oh, my god,” Chimney whispers suddenly, and everyone looks to him. Chimney’s eyes are bouncing back and forth between Eddie and Buck, his eyes wide with shock and a little bit of panic. “Fuck… I so owe Eddie twenty bucks,” Chimney mumbles, head dipping low, and a groan leaving his mouth. Then, Chimney digs his wallet out of his pocket, flicks open the sad, thin thing, and tugs a crumpled twenty free. “Fuck you.”
