Nezuko’s worry spiked and she hurried as quietly as she could after him in time to see him practically shove the front door to their home out of the way and stumble into the snow outside.
In his sleeping clothes.
“T-tanjiro?!” their mother asked from the other side of the room where she’d been building the fire to prepare their breakfast. He didn’t respond, not even closing the door behind him. Their mother looked over to Nezuko who met her worried gaze.
“He had a bad dream,” she said softly.
But something told her it was worse--so much worse--than that.

Summary
Instead of finding his family dead in the morning, Tanjiro finds them while it's still dark. Muzan is still at the scene and Tanjiro tries to save Nezuko. He manages to save Nezuko but the two are turned into demons.
Tanjiro tries to hide his true nature while going on his demon-slaying missions.
(Basically follows the base plot of the story except that Tanjiro is a demon. There will be a few cannon divergences but most parts are just simplified moments from the manga.)

"The quality of new Corp members is dropping," was something many believed. Including Muzan Kibutsuji.
In an act to demoralize the Demon Slayer Corp, Muzan walked up Mount Fujikasane during the latest Final Selection and turned all the candidates into demons letting them slaughter each other.
Oh, that boar head over there? No, that's not a demon, that's the great Lord Inosuke who managed to wrangle the surviving demons into being his loyal minions.
