Summary

Days don't exist in the land of shadow. With Shar's curse sinking it's cold fingers deep into the land, Vale no longer tracks the time. And yet, he is keenly aware that the hours he spends asleep are growing fewer as the visions he faces are starting to feel less like hyper-violent nightmares and more like returning memories. Staying awake is hardly a better alternative, as the ruins in this desolate land somehow feel familiar and the ever-present Dark Urge continues to whisper in his mind. Even so, he will not waver in his promise to cure his friends of their parasites nor his vow to Astarion to free him from Cazador's control forever. When it's all over, he will finally rest.
For one glorious month, Astarion had the sun. Cast back into the dark, Shar's curse is cold and maddening. Nevertheless, Astarion holds fast to his sanity, knowing what lies at the end of this journey. Every day passed is another step closer to the cure. Every day passed is a step closer to Baldur's Gate and to exacting his bloody revenge on his vampiric master. And every day, Vale proves he is true to his promise to do anything to help Astarion. It's strange, but even in the cold shadows, being with Vale still feels warm.
