Max expected a mundane animal behavior consult when she was called down to a research station in butt-fuck-nowhere-Texas — maybe a rogue military mutt, tops. What she got was a seven and a half foot tall beast of alien muscle radiating the energy of someone who's fought gods — and possibly won.
As the only person within five miles with common sense, Max is shoved into the unlikely role of accidental co-conspirator. When her new 'assignment' busts out, he brings Max along for the ride — whether she likes it or not.
What follows isn't just a galactic fuck-up. Mutual apprehension spirals into uneasy trust, a cultural collision, and a growing connection that neither of them knows what to do with—or wants to admit. They both realize quickly that they've bitten off more than they can chew: Max, with a creeping suspicion that she might be the biggest pervert ever; and her companion–kidnapper, learning the hard way that humans are, hands down, the most annoying creatures in the galaxy.
Turns out, the scariest part of first contact is catching feelings.

Summary
Hellboy, the World’s Greatest Paranormal Investigator, has seen everything. Nothing surprises him, and even less spooks him. Working for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) has desensitized him to all manner of horrors, and equipped him to deal with any kind of monster. Why they would send him of all people to investigate Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is beyond him. It’s just a struggling chain of family restaurants, known less for the quality of their pizza than for their advanced (if not aged) animatronic entertainers. It’s also known locally as the site of a violent haunting. Whether it’s true or false, Hellboy intends to find out. If he can manage to get hired as the nighttime security guard—a position that just recently and suddenly became available—he’ll have plenty of time in the night to investigate. After all, what are the chances of him actually catching anyone sneaking around such a run-down restaurant so late at night?

Moving in with Wade was categorically not a regret. In fact - not that he was ever going to let himself admit that to Wade’s face - this was probably the best thing that could have happened to him. But of course, he was moving in with Wade fucking Wilson who, as much as he had grown on Logan throughout their bizarre adventure, was still a human tornado. Sometimes it was really hard to remind himself how glad he was that Wade had called after him.
They hadn’t really had an exact conversation about how long Logan was expecting to stay. Wade’s words on that first walk back to the apartment had been “Stay as long as you need - until you get sick of me, honestly!”
“You think I’m not already there, Bub?” Logan had joked with a wry smile.
