Polin Week Day 5 Didn't Know They Were Dating
Penelope merely rolled her eyes, though the corners of her lips curved upward with fond amusement. From her bag she retrieved a small packet of sour gummy worms, offering them casually over her shoulder. The girls declined with polite smiles, prompting her to shrug lightly before selecting one for herself. She then held another toward Colin, who, without hesitation, leaned closer and accepted the sweet directly from her fingers, his grin unmistakably pleased by the simple gesture.
“Look at that,” Michaela whispered theatrically into Francesca’s ear. “He is practically her lapdog — eating from her hand like a well-trained, obedient boy.”

Mike grabs Will’s hands and tangles them with his own, blinking up at him through his long, dark lashes. His eyes are endless. Solid black, like the night above them. So shiny that Will can see himself, tipsy and happy, in the reflection. “I want to be stuck with you,” Mike whispers, like it’s a secret. “I don’t ever want to leave.”
Will sucks in a sharp breath, squeezing his hands. “Then don’t,” he whispers back, punched-out and honest. “Stay.”

Summary
A rewrite set after the sorcerer, where the characters are people and the stakes are high, and Byler is happening.
Warning: will have character death, violence and horror.
This is what I wish would happen.
Such as Hopper not being a dick to Kali, and the rest of the parents learn what is happening. Joyce cares about he oldest son. The painting lies exposed; the hospital attack is more realistic. The first shadow is mentioned. Characters in danger, and we have some character deaths. Also, some Vecna is a real threat.
P.S. The first few chapters are kind of in episode format, but I stopped and chose to write it how I want, and not limit it to a theoretical TV episode time slot.

“Remember that time I saved your life?” He means it as a joke, but it comes out soft, an opening for all the feelings he’s been keeping in through the years to come out of. All the things he’s wanted to say but felt like he couldn’t.
Mike looks over to him with a small smile and a nod. “I never did thank you for that, did I? Thank you, Will. Seriously.”
“You don’t have to thank me. It was because of you that I could even do it.” Will looks away for a second, his heart is racing suddenly like he shouldn’t say what he wants to. But he needs to. He needs to let it out. He looks back into Mike’s eyes.
“When you were about to be attacked… I didn't know what to do. It was the first time I really felt like I was going to lose you. I froze, I was just so scared, but then I just… I thought about this, being here, meeting you… becoming your friend. It gave me the strength to fight back.”

On the night of their graduation, Mike and Will leave the party early and end up on the swing set where they met. One confession becomes many as they finally talk about everything they’ve been through, and everything they’ve been keeping inside.

El is gone.
Will tries to figure out how to move on in New York, and Mike follows him. Their apartment is haunted not by ghosts, but by the two of them.
Or: Catastrophically traumatized boys cling to each other and accidentally figure out how to be close—too close—while moving through their grief.
