Unless, of course…” He tips his head forward, a playful smirk on his face. “I courted you, Prince Mydei?”
A loud gasp in front of them followed by a series of even louder gasps behind them painfully reminds him that they are, in fact, very much in public. He doesn’t need to look around to know that everyone nearby has stopped to watch.
There’s no way Phainon actually forgot the world existed around them. He did this on purpose to mess with him, didn’t he? Mydei knows he’s utterly shameless, but this takes the cake.

Mydei nearly drops his fruit, incredulous eyes snapping to Phainon. Deep red juice stains Phainon’s lips and drips from the knife in his hand, landing on the plate of food waste in his lap. The remaining half of his pomegranate glistens like a precious rock in the sunlight, but doesn’t shine nearly as bright as the curiosity in Phainon’s eyes.
So that was a serious question.

Now, he's spent a couple days here and it's going smoothly so far. Good food, spectacular sights, and they even catch a street performance on their way to a bakery.
Except... wait, why does that magician's hat perfectly match the soulmark on Heizou's left shoulder?

Snowflakes drift past the window as Heizou stares out of it, lost in thought and leaning on the kitchen counter.
Some stores have started carrying red, pink, white, and even purple heart-themed decorations. The grocery stores have been selling chocolates, romantic cards have dominated the greeting card section, teddy bears have greeted him the moment he stepped into the supermarket.
Lyney left ten minutes ago to “run a quick errand.” It doesn’t take a detective to figure out what he’s really doing. His proactiveness makes Heizou a little ashamed of himself.
Valentine’s Day is in three days and he still doesn’t have a solid plan.

Soon after Lyney returned to Fontaine, he established a routine: every two weeks, he’d come in to find the most interesting mystery book. The day after, he would reply to the latest letter and send that reply with the book. A week or so later, he’d lock himself in his room, curl up on the window nook, and read an enthusiastic review. It's been a few months since he last saw Heizou, and every word he reads only makes him miss Heizou more.
All the while, he tries to keep his worries at bay: the deeper he falls, the more afraid he is of the truth hanging over his head like a storm cloud. How much longer can he hide his identity from someone so special to him? It's easy enough when they're only sending letters, but it's a different story in person.

Magic in a world with Vision holders? In the very nation whose Archon has a strong (and forceful) presence? If his colleagues are this passionate about it, it must be worth looking into. A magic show in a week... Time to see what the fuss is about.
