The chips do not ensure total compliance. The chips do not, in fact, ensure any degree of compliance.
The chips are possibly totally worthless, but Kamino is sure this will be fine. The clones are still trained to be obedient; why wouldn't they follow orders?

In an unprecedented move, Palpatine managed to begin a coup against himself. On accident even! The fact that the (remaining) Jedi council will be the last to find out about this coup that they apparently attempted and failed. But don't worry, the professionals (Cody) are on it now.
Cody: *shaking his head* why didn't they invite me to plan this coup, I'd be so good at planing it! Look, I'm doing it right now! -

What if that tumble Anakin took on Naboo wasn't so harmless?

The only Vader timetravel that I like.
Corporal Timetravel, not palimpsest.Vader goes back in time and covertly assassinates his younger self while he's protecting Padmé on Naboo *before* he goes to Tatooine to massacre the Sandpeople. Anakin therefore never touches the Dark and dies in the Light.
Vader also does fix-it all subtly, without making himself the hero. The Force is smug because it got Vader to do what it wanted. -

AU. This story was formerly titled The Kenobi Triptych before it grew. When the Force throws Obi-Wan Kenobi through time to show him three different times in his life at different ages, he gets the opportunity to change things.

Timetravel method: Quantum Leap, a three-fold round robin. A three-prong fix-it.
1. Padawan Kenobi at the Battle of Naboo
2. General Kenobi just before Greivous
3. Master Kenobi on the Millennium FalconParticularly interesting what each Kenobi brings to each time.

Timetravel method: a ghost with one night to converse with his past self.
How Obi-Wan wins Star Wars in 10 days. (With help from Quinlan, Tholme, and a Jedi Shadow with a slug thrower.)
“Master Yoda is wise,” Obi-Wan began, sorting his thoughts as he spoke. “But I believe that over time, the depth of his wisdom has been obscured behind his pithy aphorisms. As my future self said, no matter how much we commit to doing something, outside factors may come into play. That does not mean we don’t commit to doing something, just that the outcome is not always in our control.”
Master Windu nodded thoughtfully. “And the future?”
“The same principle applies. We cannot know the future for certain, but that does not absolve us from committing to strive toward the best future possible.” -

Dick rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “I’m mostly used to sparring with my little brothers, it’s kind of just habit, and I was having fun. I didn’t want the match to be over too quick.”
“Too quick?” Derek asked, eyebrows raised. “I’m twice your size, kid.”
Dick shrugged. “So’s Bruce and we’re pretty much tied at this point, or at least according to the score board the kids started to keep for Saturday spars.”
“Saturday spars?” Derek repeated, following him towards the locker room.
Dick flashed him a smile. “What? Don’t have any weird family traditions?”
“Not ones that include hitting each other,” Derek said
