    To him, saying "What's your name?" might as well be 'strip and dance for me'!

    Also the in-universe explanation you gave here of 'fucking descriptions mean nothing to me when you can literally get space plastic surgery, space reversible sex changes/species changes and space shenanigans to change your appearance and name?' is *chef's kiss*.

    “Kryze. Human female. Pointy face. Good with a blaster. Ruled Mandalore.” It's occasionally annoying to a bounty hunter that gender, hair color, eye color, and hide markings are mostly irrelevant given the many ways those can change or be changed based on species or technology. Even species presentation can be faked. He never got her chain code. Pity.

    Spoon clashed against spoon. Yan resisted the impulse to smile; part of the fun was the pretense that spoon combat was in deadly earnest. He switched to a reverse grip and scooped at Sy’s ribs; Sy spun aside and swatted his forehead with the bowl of his spoon. Yan retaliated with a poke to the ribs with the handle.

    Rael completes Komari's training. Then he collects Obi-Wan from Melida/Daan and adopts him as padawan.
    The Healer calls a Guard so Rael doesn't get to punch Jinn.

    Interesting Perspectives:
    • on the different sorts of Jedi and their different specialties;

    “My niche knowledge is all the diplomatic shit most Jedi run from. Formal greetings, bows, dances—that kind of stuff. I could show you some. Most Jedi don’t want to hear about my missions, so I have a lot of stories.”
    “Why don’t the Jedi value your work?”
    “Before Komari, I rarely used my saber on missions. My job was to establish or maintain relationships with planetary leaders. It was a lot of drinking and a lot of flattery. Someone has to do it. We rely on outside funding, which means relationships are important. But most Jedi prefer relief missions—rescues, explorations, adventures.”

    • on the Jedi tendency to self-isolate;

    “After Qui-Gon rejected me, I rejected the Order. I took the posting out here, determined to be alone. I don’t know if I intended to protect the Order from myself or myself from the Order, but the result was the same. I was isolated. It’s difficult to look at Jon, know he deserves better and not to think the same about myself.”
    “You do deserve better,” Rael tells him. “Better than exile, self-assigned or not. Better than the lies your insecurities whisper late at night. You’ve already discovered this, but taking a padawan isn’t a one-way relationship. You’ll learn from Jon even as he learns from you.”
    “Without a teacher, there’s been no one to force me to learn the lessons I don’t want to learn,” Feemor admits.

    One master-one padawan deprives padawans of opportunities to learn and masters from a support network. Raising Komari with the assistance of others isn’t due to a failure of my skills or having a difficult padawan. It’s a choice and one I would make again.

    “Having a padawan doesn’t mean I’m their sole teacher or support. It would be selfish and foolish to take that approach. If you need or even want help with Jon, you’ll receive it. I know it might sound silly to say to a sentinel, but Jedi aren’t meant to be alone.”

    “Listen to the Force, we must. But listen to each other, also important this is. Too dangerous, rogue Jedi are.”

    Rael has carefully maintained Obi-Wan’s connections to Komari, Knol, Nico, and Plo Koon, because he wants Obi-Wan to know there are people in his corner. If he ever disagrees with Rael, there are those he can turn to.
    ...
    Rael had been prepared to train Obi-Wan outside the Temple the way he had with Komari, but while Komari needed to be away, Obi-Wan needs to be in it. He needs the reminder that he is a Jedi, that he has a home and a family. Rael doesn’t hide him away or raise him in secret. Obi-Wan flourishes under the acknowledgment.
