    “I swear, I don’t think you’re gross, Simon,” Grace interrupts, standing from his armchair and grimacing when his skin sticks to itself with sweat. “I really, really don’t.”

    Simon scoffs. He smiles dryly, shakes his head, shoves his hand into the pocket of his sweatpants like he’s trying not to punch Ryland (which isn’t out of the realm of possibility, Simon’s got some gnarly anger issues) and shifts his weight from foot to foot. “What, gonna tell me it’s all…scientific curiosity?”

    “Well, I wouldn’t be lying-”

    “Oh, cut the shit!”

    “But that’s…not the whole truth.”

    “Then what the fuck is the problem?!”

    Oh, god. Is Simon going to make him come out and say it? Clearly this ends one of two ways, and Grace isn’t in the mood for a black eye and the silent treatment.

    “I’m staring because I’m attracted, Simon.”
