Idia knew better than most what it meant to devote your life to someone, to practically become an NPC if it meant being support for the real hero. He felt like that for Ortho, especially now that the kid had a soul of his own. And he knew Silver felt like that for Malleus, overrated as the guy was. Still, Idia wanted Silver to know what it was like to have someone devoted entirely to him, if only during these intimate moments where the rest of the world fell away.

“Welcome to the napping zone, comrade,” Idia announced, cackling as he tossed a can of lychee juice onto the beanbag. It wasn’t like he expected the other person to respond.
A few days later, Idia returned between classes and nearly choked on his cup ramen. The lychee juice was gone. And, sitting squarely in the middle of his beanbag was a can of black coffee. Unopened.
