Dramatic Irony: a literary device by which the audience's or reader's understanding of events or individuals in a work surpasses that of its characters.

Other types of literary irony include Socratic Irony, which has the character playing dumb. The character knows what’s happening but would rather not divulge information to intensify the story and manipulate it.

Percy Jackson didn't want to be a half-blood, nor did she, a full-grown PhD student, want to be in her childhood book series. Also, what is with the random anachronism?

    Summary

One thing that nobody talks about is what happens after the epilogue.

Percy put in the work: she woke up, she followed her script, and she lived another person’s life perfectly.

Now, however, there was just one itsy-bitsy problem. She had no idea what would happen next.

    AKA

The self-insert is over, the day is saved, and our hero is still living someone else's life. She'd like to go off-script now.

“This treaty only binds those willing to follow the rules,” Sam scoffed. “Super‑villains don’t obey laws.”

“Ha, sounds like you lot were law‑abiding enough,” Rhodey shot back, arms crossed, “otherwise you wouldn’t have gotten arrested on your first day in Germany.”

    The atmosphere was growing tense.

“Well, I don’t trust the UN special panel’s approval process either,” Peter suddenly cut in, breaking the adult tension — but he didn’t seem bothered. He was staring up at the pattern on the ceiling light. “I doubt they’re any faster than our apartment building’s plumbing repair request.”

    Nobody laughed at his joke.

“Alright,” Peter said, ignoring their stares, straightening up and sitting properly. “You’re all being too optimistic. Let me tell you a simple fact: signing this won’t protect the whole world.”
