[KYLE POV]
“When I… lived alone, I was in the dark most of the time,” Stan whispered, so quietly as if the dimmed crevices of the bedroom would reach out a hand and grab him if they sensed him. “Yanno, saving on power bills.”
[...]
Kyle's heart panged for Stan once more, his stomach dropping. “God, I-...”
“Don't, uh-...” Stan huffed a mirthless laugh through his nose. “Don't make it weird. 'S fine now.”
“Is it?”

[KENNY POV]
The sky above teems with clouds, all different shades of grey that collide in a putrid harmony. He can nearly touch them from here, nearly reach them. When he sits up, he's closer to them as his gaze looms over the side of the building to the streets far, far below.
The mountains are still waiting for him, he remembers. Patiently, they watch over him with zero judgment.
Zero demand.

(AKA. As sophomore year begins, Kenny is left juggling more than ever. Is it possible to keep the people around him close, alongside his part-time jobs? And how much longer can he neglect a 2-year-old memory he's blocked out while everything else bubbles up to the surface?)

[STAN AND KYLE POV]
“What's in your pocket, dude?” Stan chuckled against Kyle's lips, making them tingle.
At this point, Kyle had gone too rigid to answer.
[...]
Too late.Held by Stan was no longer Kyle, but the baggie. Well, barely. Stan was shaking violently as he peered at it. Tried to gauge it. Now, he held it even closer to his face, trying to ease the fuzziness the world had dissipated to so starkly. “...Weed?”
[...]
“Okay, Stan, it's not-...” Kyle began pathetically. “It's not how it looks, okay?”

[STAN AND KYLE POV]
"Stan...?"
"'S okay, 'm here," Stan reassured in a whisper.
"No, I mean, I... hafta..."
"Hm?"
"It's Cartman's fault..."
For a while, Stan allowed himself to process. Of course, he still didn't understand. "What are you talkin' about? "Cartman's fault"? Whaddaya mean?"
But Kyle let out a sigh as he drifted into sleep.

[STAN AND KYLE POV]
Now was Stan's turn to snort. Kyle was ever one for wit. God... what had he been thinking befriending anyone else?
"I don't understand why you got bullied, yanno," blurted Stan. "'Should've been me, not you. You're the confident, clever one. Clearly."
Kyle's forehead scrunched, the creases having embedded themselves there since they were thirteen.
"No, dude. Don't-... don't say shit like that," he scolded gently. Soon he had dumped himself next to Stan, leaning his elbows on his knees, his right hand trailing through his red locks. He bumped Stan's shoulder with a tiny grin. "There's no way I'm cool, what with my track record with girls. I don't expect any chick to have ever found me remotely attractive."
"...How...?" Stan said before he could stop himself. "You look.... fine to me."

[Mike's POV]
“And us? …We're friends?” The irony hits Mike too late, a recollection amongst the fuzz in his brain, static of lost signal.
Briefly, Will tenses too. Finally, he twists the key correctly and his apartment door clicks open and he turns his head to level Mike over his shoulder. “Friends? No, thanks.”

(AKA: After realising what a fucking labotomised idiot he's been, Mike goes to NYC to try and win Will back).
