Summary
In summary, the world was fucked.
Yasmin Khan – Yaz, to her few friends who remained – knew that better than anybody.
Unofficial leader of one of the last groups of resistance against the Cybers, it was hard not to feel like the weight of the world rested on her shoulders. At the very least, she had the weight of seven other people looking up to her for guidance, for protection – as much as there was to be had, anyway.
Because nowadays, nowhere – and no one – was ever truly safe.

The Doctor saw Yaz’s old Pokémon cards and decides to get her a few (a lot)
-
Years ago, Yaz would have said to anyone who asked her that she loved the peace and solitude.
It was a chance to unwind from her hectic life and she could stop and maybe pick up a book and just sit, not having to worry about anything.
Now however, she knew the quiet meant one of two things. Either the Doctor was doing repairs somewhere in the great expanse of the TARDIS, maybe somewhere very very far away which is why she couldn’t hear the usual sparks or buzzing, or the blonde was up to something, which was the more concerning of the two options.

Summary
Sometimes, when her eyes finally slid shut, she dreamt.
A child standing under a purple sky, a burnt orange planet, a burning planet.
She always woke up crying from these dreams, for the family she’d lost, for the adoptive mother who’d experimented on her foundling, for the founding fathers of Gallifrey who’d lied to her.
She smashed her fist against a wall and received another dart in the neck for her trouble.---
Or, what would happen if someone other than Jack went out looking for her.

There’s a myth that speaks of a Bar at the End of the Universe where the recently deceased are sent, those with unfinished business doomed to spend eternity there unless either they’re brought back from the cusp or revenge is taken on their behalf.
Following a mortal injury, this is exactly where the Doctor ends up.
Featuring Jack being an unhelpful spirit guide, Missy being an even more unhelpful Time Lady, and the Doctor and Yaz being precious cinnamon rolls.

“I don’t like presents,” Yaz said immediately. “Besides, it’s been a long day. I just wanna go home and unwind.”
“Oh, I bet this will help you unwind,” Bill said with a smirk.
Yaz looked at her warily. “Bill, did you buy me a sex toy?”
Bill looked at her innocently. “No.”
“Bill.”
“I mean, it would be quite rude to refer to her as a toy.”

Summary
Rose Tyler-Noble jumps out of her parallel universe, leaving her husband and family behind in the hopes that being back in the right universe will improve her well-being.
Yasmin Khan is out for lunch with the Doctor when she sees a blonde woman sitting on the sidewalk, crying.
The Doctor, Yaz, and Rose travel back to Sheffield to see Yaz's family, but they have to leave the TARDIS so it can reset, and when they come back, it's gone. The police have confiscated it, and they want to see proof of ownership before they give it back. And the Doctor left her psychic paper on board. And they've landed in March of 2020, just before everything shuts down.
Stranded in Sheffield, they have no choice but to get a flat and quarantine together. Which, when you have three emotionally volatile people who care for each other more than they're willing to admit, can be complicated.
(Sequel to And Still I Will Live Here, but hopefully readable out of context. Complete!)
