“Are we friends?” He counters, eyes snapping to me in their intensity. Honestly, I don’t like how he’s looking at me…or maybe how he looks at anyone. There's arrogance. There’s boredom. There’s an intensity designed to push everyone away.
“Yes,” I lie, because there’s a half-truth in there.
His lips slightly sneer, at the edges, but instead of cruel words, he shocks me again by saying, “I need you to touch me…. It shouldn’t be a problem, right? Because you’re gay. Because we’re friends?”

The familiar sound of a blade swinging through the air coupled with the roaring of a crashing wave made him smile. The soft tap-tap of feet landing a little ways away told Zenitsu the battle was done long before he heard the head hit the ground with a wet thud. The sword being sheathed made a reassuring sound. Tanjiro did it, thank goodness.
Zenitsu closed his eyes, too tired to keep looking at that brilliant full moon. Why was it always full moons?
