Summary
The dark was silent.
Movement in the distance made Miyako stiffen. A wide swath of pixels rolled over the landscape toward them like a silent wave. She held her breath as it bore down on them.
The nothingness of the pixels rippling beneath her was unnerving. Grass, pixels, and grass again. Miyako couldn’t feel the difference. It always felt like it should come with some noise. An earthquakey rumble or static. Sometimes it seemed like she could feel a tingle as the waves passed, but she was never sure she wasn’t just imagining it.
The glitching was always worse at night.

These were not protectors. These were not warriors. These were babies.
Okay, so they could walk and talk, and seemed perfectly capable of introducing themselves once they were no longer under the impression that he was going to attack them. Elecmon got them to sit and listen, and impressed upon them that they were safe, and that he was there to help them out. They pinched each other to prove they weren’t dreaming.
But still.
Elecmon was going to have a word with someone about all this. A strong word.

He could feel Taichi’s emotions. Not just in the moment of evolution, but a constant, in-the-background-of-every-day way. He speculated that it would be the same for all Jogress partners.
Yamato said it offhand, like he meant it to be interesting.
Takeru was terrified.

Summary
Hot tears welled in his eyes, spilling over near immediately. That wasn’t fair. There was no way to get his dad back, but Takeru was just upstairs. He hadn’t lost him at all. They just needed to talk, and this was absolutely not the right time, but Iori was abruptly so upset that he didn’t care about being polite anymore.
Iori stretched with his mind, focusing everything he had on the minute spark in his chest. He sucked in a deep breath and yanked with all his might.

Whatever expression had been on Iori’s face slowly slid into nothingness. His stomach went cold, yet at the same time, something hot and painful wedged itself under his ribs.
Oh. Right.
