Ryland drops the water bottle. It clangs to the ground with a disgusting clang. The sound reverberates in Ryland’s ears, and he flinches. But his brain is spinning spinning spinning, and there’s a man with a gun moving closer. He lunges toward his classroom, twisting the lock from the other side and slamming it closed, leaving him out in the hallway.
“Barricade this door now! Use desks. Books. Backpacks. Anything and everything you can find! Do it now!” he shouts. His voice doesn’t betray him this time.

They get directed to an agency, where they pick out Ryland Grace due to his easy-going nature. Thanks to Simon's tendencies to get possessive of his mates well being, it's for the best. So is the fact that Simon decides to not take part and just allow this alpha to help Tom through his heat and take suppressants himself so he can be there if Tom needs. Though, it seems his plan may not work out the way he thought it would.

“Ouch.” Simon laughed and Ryland had to look down at his feet to make sure he didn't do something stupid like trip over his own shoelaces. Again. It was unfair how pretty Simon’s laugh was. “I think that might be the harshest thing I’ve ever heard you say.”
“Oh, there’s more where that came from.” Ryland spoke before his brain kicked back into gear. Fudgcicles. Him and his big mouth.
Simon swung around to stop Ryland in his tracks, looking up at him through dark eyelashes and the beginnings of a smile twisting his lips. He was so close, Ryland would swear he could feel Simon’s breath against his lips. “You promise?”

“I’m not Colt,” Colt said, interrupting Jody’s thoughts. He cocked his head to the side, frowned, tried to lower his hand for the third time like he’d already forgotten what he was supposed to be doing. “I’m trying–I need to find Colt. M’not him.”
Oh, yeah, he was definitely fucking concussed.
(Ryland is concussed, Colt is framed for murder and concussed, and Jody is definitively lost in all the sauce because someone forgot to tell her that Colt has a twin brother.)

“He’s usually not like this, I don’t know what’s gotten into him.” He sighs again, “I know he’s always been a little jealous of me, but hurt you—“ he cuts himself off, looking away. He sniffles, wiping away tears Grace didn’t see form. “It’s awful Ry, just awful.”
”I feel fine,” he reluctantly says instead of about eighty different questions that he really wants to blurt out. Still uncertain, he asks “Where are we?”
”You’re on my yacht, in our room.” He gestures around them. When Grace doesn’t say anything in response he sighs again, getting up and leaning into Grace’s space. His hands moving from his legs to the bed bracketing him in once more.
“Babe I know you must be tired,” he glances down to where he’s clutching Rocky like a lifeline, then back up arching a brow.
“Uh—” Crud. Brain think. “This is mine?” His brain has failed him.

Grace gets dragged into the events of the Fall guy! If only he could remember who he is and why his brother is being framed for murder, and wait who’s this guy that wants to help him?

After four years crammed in a small space ship, Grace is desperate to be allowed to stay.
